My husband will be at a conference next week (Sunday-Friday, July 8-13th) and is staying at the Anaheim Marriot next to the convention center. His work is allowing families to join their spouses at no additional cost (yay!). So my DD's (ages 6 and 9) and I are planning a last minute trip to DL.

We typically stay at the CCI so the Anaheim Marriot is new for me and I have a few questions:

1) how far is the walk? I've done a bit of research and it looks like we can take the #2 ART bus, or I've read that some people have walked over to the Toy Story Lot and taken the tram (for free). Has anyone done this?

2) I've read that the ART bus starts 1 hour before park opens, so on our MM we'd have to walk, right?

Anything else you can share with me about this hotel would be helpful!

Thanks in advance!

How fun! I have stayed there and just walked to the Toy Story Lot and got on the bus there for free. I never ended up taking the ART. I would guess it is maybe a half mile walk? Not bad at all.

When we stayed there, we walked in one direction, then cabbed on the way back. The cab was under $10 including tip, and saved our tired feet. Still cheaper than buying ART for 3 of us ....

To clarify, you walked from the hotel to the resort? And then cabbed it back?

We've stayed at the Anaheim Marriott several times and have always enjoyed it. Unless the ART bus numbers have changed, it's bus number 5, I believe. It picks up right outside the hotel's front door. It's also a straight shot, with no other stops, which is nice. You can also take bus number 4, which drops at the Hilton directly across the driveway. That's also a non-stop route.

You can easily walk to the Toy Story lot if you'd rather catch a bus from there, especially on MM days. We've never done that, but it seems easy enough.

A note about the Marriott: request a room on a high floor with a fireworks view. It's just a request, but there's no additional charge if you get it! (We've always received our requests.)

The breakfast buffet in the restaurant is really great if you can get a package deal that includes it. Or maybe you could get kids eat free with your husband's convention rate? Ask about it anyways.

Have fun!

Thanks for the replies! I think we'll try the Toy Story lot (especially for our one MM) and then if it feels further than the ART bus we'll try ARt. We also got free parking with our 4 day passes, so I can use that too :)

Thanks for the tip, I'll totally ask!

My husband will get this as part of his stay, but the comapany is paying for it. I think we'll do cereal/muffins/juice in our room to save a bit of money. This was a last minute trip, so we're trying to go low key. We live in California (about 4 hours north) so we go about once a year. We hadn't planned to go this year but free lodging was just too good to pass up, ha!

Yes, we walked from the Anaheim Marriott to the park. Then in the evening when we returned from Disneyland to the hotel we took a cab.

Since we're elite members they gave us concierge, which had a fireworks view, which was awesome. Definitely worth asking for since I think you can see it on the floors just below as well.
:thumbsup2
