Yesterday, Kathy had laser surgery on her spine, injured last year in a work related accident at the hospital where she nurses. She has been off work since, in constant and severe pain, to the point of depression.
Kathy's surgery was delayed for over 2 1/2 hours, making for an extremely long day. She had requested a certain anesthesiologist, one she knew and had very high confidence in. He had to change his dinner plans even, as the surgery was that delayed, but he did make a commitment and for that Kathy was so very pleased and comfortable in the knowledge he was there.
The laser procedure itself took 1 1/2 hours, in a very uncomfortable position, and Kathy needed to be awake to assist in certain ways. A bummer.
She says the pain in her back is incredible now and confined to bed for three days. Bur she reports that the severe pain that had extended into her leg since last year is mostly relieved. Her back in very pained, but hopefully will diminish in the days ahead.
Kathy thanks everyone for the PD, prayers, PM's, and loves the DIS for all the support it gives her. I certainly have to echo those sentiments.
My best, Kathy, for a quick, complete and low/no-pain recovery and back to your old-self soon.
