Shirley R........"The Perfect Gift".........A six year old girl who has her whole life ahead of her just to possibly be cut short. It doesn't seem fair. I keep seeing "the perfect gift" at the end of your posts and I keep thinking, other than the gift of life what is the next "perfect gift". Is it a new doll or baseball mit? Is it a new car or a diamond ring? Or is it what I have seen here on this thread for the last three pages. A true sincere wish of luck, a prayer of hope and an offer for help from some caring people, to a little girl all of us may never know. My prayers are with April and her family and all of the rest of you good hearted folks on these boards. Ron

Shirley has been keeping me aprised of the situation and it is doubtful that April will make the trip. We are hoping that her older sister will be able to go if not this time than another since she is only nine and this is very hard to deal with.

I have been following this thread since it started and let me say that my prayers are with April and her family during this tough time. I also pray that somehow, someway, April receives her wish of seeing Mickey and Minnie - even if it was only for a second at her bedside. I hope that April receives her miracle....

I have just finished saying my prayer for April and her family after following this thread last night and tonight. Of course I asked that God's will be done and I added that I knew that the prayers of all of the good people on the board were already at work but if there was any way that God's will could be a miracle then please let it be. What a wonderful group of people that is not afraid to show your feelings for a stranger in need. I don't visit the Board often but when I do I always feel like a part of the family. Thank you DIS'ers, and especially Shirley, for your care and concern for our fellow travellers and I mean that in the universal sense as well as the DCL sense. Thanks for making all of us feel welcome and cared about also.

I have to echo that sentiment. I've read, posted, bumped, emailed, prayed, and gotten teary just thinking about it all. Such a small thing for such a frail and prescious life that none of us will ever know this side of heaven.

Most of us will never be more than usernames and posts on a board in this life - yet all of us have been touched by the same thing. Maybe that is April's gift to us (as with Nate Page) - that they can have no idea of how many lives they touch, even if for an instant.

This has been a very very tough act to be in - as of 2pm this afternoon April had slipped into a deep sleep - Her mom had gone on a field trip with Amanda yesterday since she was feeling so sad for her daughter in having to spend so much with her very sick child - while on the field trip, she received a call that the family was needed asap so both mother and daughter had to hurry and get to the hospital - the rest of the family was called in - Jeanne, my friend, got word today that the cruise was off - that April would most likely slip away before night fall - Jeanne has it as when this family possibly gets through all of this, that maybe within the year, they will take Amanda - this has taken quite a toll on her - she is 9 years old and April is her only sister - no brothers - I have the package that I gave both girls from us - if and when a cruise is planned, I do intend to send it to amanda- D.A.I.D. thanks for all that you tried to do -----we all tried --it just wasn't to be. There was other plans made for her.
Thanks everyone for everything - when I hear tomorrow the update will let everyone know and then I am requesting this thread be closed -
