An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

Good morning Liesa!!!

Just checking in to see what's new....

Home from 'guys night out' and about to hit the hay!!!:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Because....???? you had too many Coronas?? Lose too much money?? Sick from too many stogies??

Hmmm... what's new?? My daughter had to go on an antiviral because we can't get rid of her CONSTANT canker sores. It rained all over my laundry last night. It rains about 4 time a year, and of course it'd be on a night I forget the laundry. I learned again why I hate teaching place value to a 7 year old. And I"m thinking about getting my Day 3 plans up today.

No Coronas but had a beer or 2...
We watched the college basketball championship game, so I still have $ in my pocket!

Oh boy... sounds like you've been having a great day. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 Your day 3 plans sound like a great read for me in the morning. I think I'll be up with the early riser tomorrow! :rotfl:

Glad to hear you don't bet on the games! Every dollar you lose is one more Dole Whip out the window. At least that's how I see it. :rolleyes1

Not.

It can only get better. Need to write up my post, but after lessons. No afternoon meetings today, so I have a spell of time later. I also need to put in some time in the quilt and tackle a drawer or two. Yesterday we made the switch out from winter to summer clothes- I HATE that job! But this tiem was even harder becuase we sort of had to make some tough decisions on what is going home and what we're giving away or selling. We can only take ONE box per person home with us, so we have to be VERY selective!!!!!!

Nahh. I'm not a better. I love sports but I don't bet. :sad2:

1 box per person.. sounds hard. I'm sure after 10 years you have accumulated some sentimental items!

It is hard, but we're focusing mostly on things we can't get in the States. Our NICE souvenirs, pictures, etc... Clothes are not a priority. There's a Goodwill on every corner. Target's never very far away. The one thing that kills me is our extensive and valuable library. That hurts.

They think it's viral? I had canker sores all the time growing up and realized it was from the acid in the foods I ate. I ate tons of fruit and some of them would cause sores every time. Pineapple is the worst. They are so painful! I hope you guys get it figured out!

Oh that's rough! We moved 4 times in 5 years and I finally pared down to the basics (although much more than one box pp). Next time we move I hope we get a moving company and it's paid for by work. :cloud9:

That sounds sensible. Also one thing I noticed is how subtle difference are in clothes from country to country. So even the stuff your kids love now to wear might make them feel like standing out when back in the US.

I can understand how hard it will be to part with your books. But won't you be able to find people who will actually appreciate them? I would imagine that books are much less of a throw-away item there as they have become here?

thanks for the update on joseph...:thumbsup2

You're so welcome!

We've also cut out all candy and soft drinks for a while, as well as added an immune booster of zinc and echinacea. We'll just see. It's gotten so bad, that it really is interfering with her eating. So, something has to be done. Hopefully this combo approach will help!

We arrived with 20 boxes and are going home with the same. The problem is that baggage rules have changed, AND you get way less going the other way. Only 20 K per person, not the 70 pounds! So we'll ship some stuff via DHL- but that's going to cost us over $600! Stopping in Germany cut us in half again!

You are right, there are subtle differences- so we'll just arrive with little and go from there. Usually people are very generous and we are given a ton of stuff when we get back for furlough, so we can hope for that too.

The only "market" for them is in the big city where there are other English speaker/readers. I will try to sell them at the annual spring sale at my son's school. WE have over 500 books, so I hope I can get a good price for them!

Day 3, Sept. 4th

My last (mostly) solo day. My last day to do as I please, making only myself happy, wandering the world, rediscovering my inner love affair with Disney Parks.

Things to remember:

1) Mary is supposed to (according to the plan of the day ;)) show up around noon on Friday. She does NOT know what her plans are, as they heavily depend on what she ends up doing, or not, in May. She may even ..... defect for a day- going AWOL to.... eh hem... the other place.

2) Tickets for MNSSHP go on sale in May (right?) So by then, I'll have to make the decision to make this one or not. If so, we'll go to that together most likely. Not really sure what that had to do with today's PoA (Plan of Attack), but thought I'd throw that in there, because obviously I love to type all kinds of extranious, redundant information to keep you hostage at my thread a little longer. Is it working?

3) By today, I'll have been to 3/4 parks, with only AK left.

4) With either plan of Day 2 having been implemented, I'll have been out VERY late the night before at either EPCOT'S EMH OR MNSSHP. 1:00 AM would be a safe bet for bed time. That actually does come into play for today's PoA, so without you having to feel like you are still being held hostage to reading more redundant, superfluous, and repititious information, (I LOVE my thesaurus!!) that first sentence did matter.

With those important factors in mind, let's plunge head first into DAY 3:

Sleep in, and make it to AK by 10:00 AM (at 17 days after leaving Central Asia, I ought to be mostly done with jet lag). It's just me, so getting ready shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour. So, up by 9:00.

Lunch at Pizzafari when I'm hungry- probably around 11:00, but may go earlier so I can get some shots of the murals without a zillion other happy tourists. One of each of the 6 rooms would be fun to get! And one of Rosie's hot Italians might not be bad either.

May or may not go to Trail's End with Mary for din-din. ADR is at 6:40.

If not going to the Fort, I'll head straight to MK for PoTC, a Dole Whip Float and parade and Wishes. I really, really, really hope it's the Main Street Electrical Parade!!! I may have to supplement my Dole Whip Float dinner with egg rolls or Casey Nuggets. :confused3 But the main course is at Aloha Isle!

It's another take it easy sort of day. Trails at AK, lots of watching the musical groups, people watching, extra time in Discovery Island, photos of those shops' themes (did you know each shop is themed??), and hmmm.... something nommy at the Dawa Bar. Cynthia, you've been there. Think I could find a Tangierine Dream here??

There you have it. A wide open day of animal-like possibilities. Not that I'm going to act like an animal. Hopefully. Again, perhaps a tautology of useless information, but hey, you just learned a new word that you can impress your co-workers and kids with. And who knows that may be the only thing you CAN impress your kids with. :rotfl2: My teens find me utterly umimpressive these days. For those of you with little ones, just wait.

Day 3 sounds great!!!!!

Are you buying an AP or a 10 day hopper. I know you told us, but I am in a fog right now, and my brain hasn't turned on yet.:sad2:

Grab yourself a stronger cup of coffee! Or have Juliana turn her dog/puppy barker toy thingy on louder...

I am buying a 7 day hopper and using the 3 1-day tix that come with Mary's BB offer for my extra days (each of us would get one). LeeAnn only needed a 7 day hopper. Mary has AP.

Make sense??

Ahhhh - the idea of being able to walk around the parks sans children and just take it all in sounds heavenly to me. :thumbsup2 I'm looking forward to doing some of that on my solo trip. :goodvibes

Totally!

Keep in mind if you needed extra days, adding to that 7 day hopper should only cost you $4 a day. You can add up 2 3 days- 14 days from the first use. Hope that makes sense.. plus you probably already knew that!

Doesn't it?? No, "I have to go to the bathroom" 10 times in a row (just after you walk 20 yds. away), no, "Let's go see the monkeys.", no let's ride EE 15 more times, no "I need to spend $35 on this POC stuffed animal".

Still looking for touring comrades, my love! ;)

I did know that. In fact, our last day isn't completely planned out. We maaaaaaaaayyyyy want to hit a park one last time before we leave on a 3:00 ME bus. I doubt it though. But at least the option is there.

I like options! And $4 options are the best kind, next to free. :thumbsup2

So true!!!!! LOL

Juliana HAD to have this flashing princess hat that cost about $20. She did have money that was given to her from my dad but I didn't think this was a wise purchase. She already had on Minnie ears and she wasn't taking NO for an answer. Well we bought them, they went in to the bag, and she never wore them or asked for them to this day. :scared1: :sad2:

You are really recruiting!!!! :rotfl2:

The plans sound wonderful. The perfect kind of day when your having some solo time - time to soak up all the little details and just enjoy being there.

POC, for sure! Now it will end up in a garage sale for $.50.

We recruit with every chance we get! ;)

Wandering, relaxing, soaking it in!! Doesn't it sound so nice?

Sounds like a lovely day! Our last trip was a little less regimented than usual and it was nice to say to DD - sure we can ride Mission Space for the 3rd time! That reminds me - I need to get started on PH's AK outfit!

I cannot imagine paring my life down to that few boxes. DD has a heart attack when I get rid of any of her stuff. Too bad you don't have any kids younger than mine - I would be happy to ship stuff your way!
