An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

It is sure seeming unanimous. You KNOW there will be drama as we try to get 400 extra pounds of luggage on the plane, taking ICE trains in Germany, eating a good old fashion hot dog at Hot Rods game in Bowling Green, and the list goes on and on, and on, and on....

I am all for the door to door TR as well!! :thumbsup2

It is funny how "ICE" looks really strange when it is written in an English context... :rolleyes1 It allways reminds me of the exhibition at the Gaylord Palms. :goodvibes And by the way, it is short for InterCityExpress and is pronounced as an acronym, about like this: "ee" "tsay" "aye"

And clinking with wine is possible, it is not nearly as nice as with beer. But you can get an "Apfelschorle" which usually comes in a beer glass and pretend that it is beer. :goodvibes

Uh-oh, I think I'm a little afraid!!! I assume picking my nose is out?

Pick away....as long as you don't eat it!!!!!!popcorn:: :scared1::scared1:

As far as when you start your TR.... hmmmmm... I know you will blog about it- which, by the way, I don't read enough of :sad2:, but you start a live TR from the time you leave Blank-astan till you step into a)the airplane to Disney, b) off the airplane at MCO, c) getting onto Disney property, then when you get back, transition into your 'Disney' part? WOW that was a long sentence!!! :lmao:

Or just do the whole thing door to door! I'd love to read about your whole adventure!!!!! :goodvibes

Oh Liesa! I've been so swamped IRL that I missed the Joseph story, he and his family are in my prayers. I have heard so many scary stories about trampolines that it makes me ill. There is even a "party" kind of place here that has them. Thankfully the E's don't know it exists. Even with pads and nets kids can fall through the spaces where it's held to the frame.

One of their good friends has one and while it does have nets I still don't like them being on it!

POP arrival day. I'd vote for DTD but that's just me. I'd be anxious to be OUT and figure I'd explore just from walking to and from! All depends on when you get in, if you are tired, whatnot.

Nuremberg looks fabulous! That restaurant kills me. A funny story. My brother (the one who lives in Germany) dated a girl names Suzie for about a year. She was famous for her schnitzel.

I cannot even begin to tell you the amount of jokes about Suzie's Schnitzel. Only here would we find that funny and somehow off color but there you have it.

Door to door would be awfully lengthy, but hey, I'm not exactly known around here as "short and sweet"--- in the TR dept. that is. Short and sweet in stature and nature...

Now that's a different story altogether! :lmao:

My kids asked me yesterday what I was talking about, and I told them it was the "InterCityExpress". They were awed at my newfound knowledge. So, yeah, that's it. The total extent of my ICE savvy- except that I can't my tix until 92 days out. :sad2:

Let's all pretend we're drinking beer. I've always WANTED to like it, but just can't. Well, truth be told, beer actually tasted ok after about 4 screwdrivers, in my college days. :rolleyes1 You know, when money starts to run out and all that...

The hotel looks great. Your going to have so much fun! I can't wait to hear all about the entire trip.

I hope we do. Invariably my DH manages to get sick when we travel- a lot! So, keeping my fingers crossed!

Promise! ;) But I can only HOPE I come across as good of TR fodder as you have so far!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Live TR sounds great! But won't be as quality as if would be if I waited to really take time to WRITE it well, and post pix. That'll be tough "on the road". Could be done as sneak peaks though. This will take careful thought!!

Last I heard they ARE STILL waiting to be flown out. At this point, we ourselves are starting to have LOTS of questions about just HOW our insurance works. Obviously NOT well. Hard ??s are coming their way. :headache:

I may have a hard time giving up my tradition of hitting DTD first thing- before anything else. It's just the way I like to start out my trip. Change is good, but I think you're right, it'll come down to how I'm feeling after being up early. We'll see and play it by ear.

You know me... on the edge and slightly off color. Suzie's schnitzel sounds pretty dang funny to me!! ;):lmao:

"And, J. (Joseph's mom) was permitted to stay with Joseph last evening.. It "so happened" a doctor, the only one on this ward who speaks English is on duty and told J., "I know how things are done in western hospitals and our way is very difficult for you. I will allow you to stay with Joseph." We are praising Father for this gift."

Do you know why family is not permitted to stay with a sick child there?

weissgerbergasse-6.jpg

Beautiful! I would love to go there some day! And can totally see Snow White skipping down the street with a basket of flowers and birds flying around singing :rotfl:

I'm really stymied on WHEN my TR should start- or rather WITH WHAT should my TR start? I could actually start my thing all the way back to when we leave Blankastan, and work toward WDW.

Start to finish. Just make sure you mention Disney in each update so you don't get kicked off the Disney TR board. ;)

That hotel looks amazing! Not the flashy, chic amazing but the more comfy, authentic, true-to-the-culture amazing! I hope you love it and I hope you get to do everything you plan to do!!! That's so exciting!!!

Oh no! Prayers coming their way.

I thought you'd appreciate Suzie's schnitzel.

I'm here and caught up! Sorry to have been MIA so long.

Here are a few thoughts on the most recent posts. . .

I think you should explore POP too. There is a lot to see. As for food, the special of the day (I think that is what it is called) was very good when I had it. And, of course, tie-dyed cheesecake. I don't think we had a bad meal there so I don't think you will go wrong.

I think your TR should begin with leaving Blankistan too.

We are flying AirTran in May but we have one non-stop flight from HIA to MIA every day so I don't think they ever mess with it. If you have any more flight trouble, DCA and BWI are close by if you need options.

Camille - when in May will you be at WDW?

Missed you guys!!!!

BTW - for any of you following Mya's story but aren't linked to her CB site her mom posted some bad news. It does not look like it is going to be long. Please pray for Mya and Shardai. :sad1:

That hotel looks fantastic! You are going to have a great time in Nuremberg. I'm glad you are going to be able to take advantage of being "in the vicinity", globally speaking, to get to do some sight-seeing.

I saw that also and was completely heartbroken. I could not imagine that pain.

Good Morning!! Honestly, I do not know why they don't allow family to stay with their kids. They do unspeakably difficult things to the kids here! They still use injections for EVERYTHING! with garden hose sized needles MANY times a day. IVs are not permanently put in like we use, but are the ancient glass bottle kind!! Can you imagine getting stuck 10 or 12 times a day with a large gauge needle???? On top of that, family must bring in food, clothing, and medical supplies (gauze, diapers, needles) etc... It's insane!!!

I think it's great that I get to see the REAL Germany (well, at least a teensy, weensy piece of it) before I see the "other one" in WS!!! How cool is that??!!

Another vote for door-to-door! Believe it or not, I'm pushing for the train in order to save over $700 for our family (instead of flying). If you read my blog, you KNOW what an adventure that will be!! :lmao: But good advice to mention Disney each time. Hmmmm... how to creatively tie in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG road to a trip to WDW????

That hotel looks amazing! Not the flashy, chic amazing but the more comfy, authentic, true-to-the-culture amazing! I hope you love it and I hope you get to do everything you plan to do!!! That's so exciting!!!

So right. Not resort-y in any way, just sort of "everything" we always imagined Bavaria to "be". (Magdelena and Katharina are probably falling off their chairs dying of laughter!!) I just hope there's no roaches! I'm pretty easy to please. ;)

How cute is that hotel?! I love it! :goodvibes

So very cute! I'm sure the woodcutter from Goldilocks has stayed there many times!! :thumbsup2

Oh no! Prayers coming their way.

I thought you'd appreciate Suzie's schnitzel.

UPDATE ON JOSEPH DOWN BELOW!

Susie and her schnitzel! :lmao:

I love that hotel !!! Now as for 'nose pickin'":rotfl2:

My vote is from when you leave "Stan"!!!!!

I thought you might enjoy some nose picking action. As long I check all the bushes for the Rosie Papparazi before I start! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

WOW!!! It HAS been a long time!! Everything ok over there??

You know, I've neven seen a bad food review from POP! Honestly!

Sis says Dulles is closest to her house, so I'll stick with that for now. But if JetBlue starts messing with me, I'm out of there. ;)

I look at her CAring Bridge site everyday. For a day or so, things looked better... off to check it now!

for those of you who would like to read a TERRIBLE gut-wrenching story click:

HERE

and follow the link Shardai has posted in her siggie to her Caring Bridge site.

I've said it before, CANCER SUCKS BIG TIME!!

That hotel looks fantastic! You are going to have a great time in Nuremberg. I'm glad you are going to be able to take advantage of being "in the vicinity", globally speaking, to get to do some sight-seeing.

Sure you don't want to bring you and Judy over?? I know how much you appreciate strudel and beer and schnitzel!!! Might be fun??!! :confused3;)

I saw that also and was completely heartbroken. I could not imagine that pain.

Shardai has been through hell, yet, God is good--- He does know!

JOSEPH UPDATE:

Joseph and him mom, J, are being evacuated to Istanbul today at 12:55. I really don't have any updated information about his condition except that he's awake and responsive. As I know more, I'll pass it along!

Praying for Joseph. That's terrible! Some people in our neighborhood got a trampoline and just this weekend James asked us if he could play on it -- we said "no, too dangerous".

I'm so tired I'm not sure any of this will make sense or be spelled right.
I guess I'm just one of many who feel this way after reading posts....my daughter wants a tramp. and I've told her countless times, FORGET IT! This child of mine as much as I love her will find some way to get hurt, she broke her foot from quickly coming down the stairs, she's flew off of a 3 wheeler superman style and was bruised from head to toe and had stitches in her hand right after she got out of her cast. And she's found a way to swing with railing into the post posted into the concrete and slipt her ear about two inches long on the back side from hitting the post so hard, so a tramp. FORGET IT! I wish I could say these are the only times she's gotten hurt over the years, but it's not and some of them have been on a tramp. Besides, Texas has a law that if someone is hurt on your property they can sue you even if they aren't suppose to be there, so just my luck they neighbor kids would come to my house and get hurt and I would worry about being sued.

Thanks!! This is only the tip of the "I don't know squat about my own country's fads and goings-on right now" iceberg.:sad2: Maybe that's not such a bad thing... :upsidedow

I was gonna say, It's not a bad thing at all. I can't believe the carp on t.v. these days, and to make matters worse, what's allowed to be on commercials will knock your sox off, even for shows! :sad2: I'm ashamed of our country for these things because this is what's being depicted as what our country is about, and it's not there is so much more about our country that isn't about half naked people bedding down with everything and everyone they can get their hands on, and we aren't about all the dark non-sense that seems to plague our t.v.'s and movie theaters these days. Even my 90 some yr. old grandfather mentioned to me how dark everything has gotten on t.v., what gives!?! :confused3

It will be very interesting indeed to see how much has changed as we return. My father has already warned me, that "things are not what they used to be". hmmm.....

Some you'll find good and some you will have a hard time with, I'm sure. But I'll let you be the judge of course, I don't want to seem like a total downer. The things that are not so good don't have to be focused on and can be put aside.

You have to start the TR from time you shut the door on your home in Blankastan to when you finally open the door at your new home in the States!

Ditto!! :woohoo:

Hey sweet lady! Good to see about! I'm there from May 18-27th. How about you....what are your dates?

Missed you guys!!!! Missed you!

I haven't followed the story, but Maroo filled me in a few days ago. :sad2: So, so sad. I've been praying for them both.

According to the AllEars blog I read the Wishes Dessert buffet is on again.

Has any one done this? What do you think and do you think it's worth doing? It seems like a lot of money for four people to eat dessert.

Thanks for the update on Joseph.

Millie, I've heard pretty good things about the Wishes Dessert. Can't remember whose report I read it on. There might even be a blog on it on allears...not sure. It might be something we book for Peepfest.:thumbsup2

Looks fabulous!!

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

You aren't going to believe this!! We just found out that our visas will expire at the end of July, and that we must leave the country to renew them. DH is telling me that it won't be worth it to do that for only one more month of time that we need for the month of August, so we may just come back to the States then. He's asking me to move up my trip dates, to coordinate with already being back East too. I asked Mary, and she said I probably should do this!!!!
