An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

Weren't you a busy bee? :lmao::lmao:

Wow you hosted all day and get to fit in a nap!!! :woohoo::woohoo:

Sorry about the tea and the 'less than appreciative' guest. :headache:

How great to see fireworks on your birthday!!!

Off to pick up Ana from school then goto work.

ByeBye:wave2:

Seems like I just wrote a bunch of one liners. :confused3:confused3

Love the birthday posts and showing us your "guests" and non-guests seats. ;) The fireworks photos turned out great...you will be a pro by Disney World. I'm going to take a page out of your book and "grasp my 53rd this year." :scared1:

That's backwards from the way I was taught. Next you'll be telling me to ask her weight too. (and salary, and housekeeper salary)

They don't directly ask the weight, but it's perfectly fine to say, "Hey you've gotten fat!" At least my neighbor thinks so. :confused3:rotfl2:

A birthday nap is the bomb!!

The lady was, well... pretty rude. But a neighbor nonetheless. And she comes with the bonus of having a hubby who helps MY DH at the tax office. :woohoo:

As for one-liners... maybe you should file an app. at Monsters Laugh Floor. :lmao:

You almost got away with Ninja posting on me- you sly girl!!

YES!! Embrace it. 53 can be your best friend! But you must do battle and win it the noble way! :upsidedow:cheer2:

Thanks for sharing your birthday get-together pics! That's okay only 6 came..it looks like it was a nice small, intimate party. :)

It's so interesting to see how people celebrate birthdays in other parts of the world.

Unbelievable.

You could have said, "that's not fat, that's muscle -- wanna arm wrestle?" (They love wrasslin' ya know.) ;)

Happy Belated Birthday!!!

So sorry I missed it - I was out of town for business and not Dis-ing, when I came home my 3 yo was sick, so not a fun weekend. But glad to hear you had a great day. The not showing up for parties is an annoyance for me as well with DH's family, which is a different culture than mine. Then there are times more people will come than were invited. I just don't get it.

Lots of kids?? Well, do you know that actually give out a MEDAL for ladies who have 5 or more. I am teased all the time about the president coming to town to give me a pretty shining bauble for all my trouble. :lmao:

You really get a medal for having 5 or more children?! That's kind of cool! :thumbsup2

Yet, when I teach English here, and mention DisneyWorld and show pictures, they always feel compelled to remind me that Tashkent has a Disneyland. I have to convince them that it's in absolutely NO way part of the real deal. I don't think very many of them believe me.

Oh that must drive a true "Disney" person crazy! I can't believe the big guys let them get away with using that in their name!

I have been checking www.mousesavers.com every now and then to make sure they don't release any AP/General Public discounts that beat my PIN they sent me....:teacher:

And I found one!!!! :woohoo: :cheer2: :dance3: :cool1:

Yay for more savings!! :cool1: Maroo is the queen of pin codes and upgrades! :worship:

Mike just came home for lunch, and things are going to be fine, we think. Turns out this will be a bit of a process to get things sorted out with the TYPE of visa we have and get the question of whether or not we need work permits or not. Everything takes so long here, but it's not going to be a thing where we are serious trouble or anything.

On a side note, if you want to think about a persecuted people you can think about the group just south of us. They daily round up hundreds of migrant workers and deport them, much like what happens in the US. Altogether a difficult situation that's not easy to solve. Sometimes the rich people will hire them, only to get to the very end of a job that the workers have been doing and then call a friend in the migration dept. They round them up and deport them and they never get paid for their summer's worth of work. It really makes me so angry to see this type of injustice!

That is really sad. I am embarrassed lately to admit where I live the way some people are acting on BOTH sides of the immigration issue here. I hope your immigration issues are cleared up quickly. Since my DH is from another country, we have spent YEARS making sure everything is in order, but still get worried about it.

4) Place cellulite-making Food Bombs all over the table, making the Enemy feel powerful and frightening!

Cellulite! :lmao:

On the meat platter is horse sausage (dark stuff), ham, chicken, bologne like stuff, and cheese.
Nauruz033.jpg

:sad1: Sorry.... but I could never eat horse meat...

I hate photobucket. That is all.

Have you tried other photo hosting sites? I use tinypic.com and never have a problem with it. You can only upload 5 or so pictures at a time but otherwise it's fine!

It was definitely an "intimate" party, with LOADS of elbow room. :lmao: And plenty of food. Seriously, it really was nice. Instead of having several conversations all around the table, it was one nice big one.

Unbelievable.

You could have said, "that's not fat, that's muscle -- wanna arm wrestle?" (They love wrasslin' ya know.) ;)

I should have just used them to strangle her. This is the same one who stole our land and outhouse in the middle of broad daylight.:mad::mad:

I will not miss her or her eternally drunk husband.

Happy Belated Birthday!!!

I wasn't on hardly at ALL from Friday afternoon until well, really just now. I have all morning to fart around here. And I probably well, both literally and figuratively.

Why is it that people can just think they can show up or not and think that the hostess is not going to feel the effects?? Baffles me. My DH's family is that way too. But more with being late (HOURS late) than with not showing up at all.

So where are they from?? I'm very curious now!

You really get a medal for having 5 or more children?! That's kind of cool! :thumbsup2

They really do! It'd be so cool to have one!!

Oh that must drive a true "Disney" person crazy! I can't believe the big guys let them get away with using that in their name!

I think the reason they don't get in big trouble is that I seriously doubt they are taking one iota of business away from the Real Deal. Hardly anyone makes more than $60 a year, so travel is not an option. That gov't is insane, so for them to even get passports is pretty rare.

That is really sad. I am embarrassed lately to admit where I live the way some people are acting on BOTH sides of the immigration issue here. I hope your immigration issues are cleared up quickly. Since my DH is from another country, we have spent YEARS making sure everything is in order, but still get worried about it.

No, this isn't something that is going to go away- maybe even never. It stems from a deep seated prejudice and greed.

:sad1: Sorry.... but I could never eat horse meat...

Just like I can't eat bananas. Except, bananas aren't my pets.

I do have an account at Dropbox (I think) and used it once. I'll use Photobucket until I hit my quota then, switch over.

May is marching on at a frightening pace! Seriously, it scares the snot out of me. It's either that or my allergies. Today is the 11th. Our passports just left the city with a friend of ours who is on his way back to the big city. There they will get some nifty little pieces of paper giving us permission to enter the land of ongoing revolution. Yeah, that sounds exciting. Ah well, that's where our annual retreat is set for this year, so we are hoping that within the next month things will really settle down and we will be able to enjoy Lake Issyk-kul to its fullest! Not having my passport under my own roof though for 3 weeks is always a bit nerve wracking. What if the folks here decide to overthrow their government and we need to get out quick like?? What then?? Hiking over the desert without papers doesn't sound too fun to me.

OK, enough of that.... It's time to see what Minnie hides under her covers. Chapter 4 is dedicated to all things DHS. Honestly, there's not much here this time around. This is the park I'm least excited about, and know the least about. I think this part of Minnie could use some "enhancments". Wanna help her out?? What am I missing here?? What little hidden gems should I add to her underpages?

This is all I could come up with:

Her Cover:

The Flip Side:

Sad, huh?

Now, as an extra special bonus, I couldn't wait to show you this. I wanted to devote a whole long series of posts about getting my gussy-up on, but I picked these up from my seamstress yesterday, and they completed my AK get up. See those fancy new pants?? My mom sent in some fabric which I adored and immediately capris came to mind. $10. A brand spanking new pair of capris that fit like a glove for $10. I picked up that cute scarf specifically for my AK day, and look how well it goes!!! I"m so excited!

All I need to do is slip on a nicer shirt or blouse (which should fit in my bag) for our Jiko ADR and voila- I'll be fancy schmancy!

Today, is a "run" day. I did complete the first day of W3 on Sunday with success, but sheesh IT WAS HARD!!!! Day 2 is today; I'm hoping I don't have a mind meld with Jello again.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

We call the "place" in front of a kid at any table, extending an arm's length out in all directions, "The Destruction Zone".

That's our whole table when we go out. :lmao: That's how Phoebe has earner the nickname Elasti-girl.

You really know how to do birthdays! Phew! I'm tired just reading about it.

Streetmosphere is wonderful, try to get as much in as possible!! :goodvibes

Have a great run! How often are you supposed to run during one week?

You got it!! Ha! Elasti-girl. I like that one!

I will. Probably on my solo day there. I've heard so many good things about it!

3 times a week. And I've been pretty regular for several weeks now. I think I'm actually seeing some toning in my calves- I'm very happy results are happening!

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
It's been 2 years of gathering info. and finding fun facts. I will find that doc and send it on, But also do my best to answer some of them here. That way others might learn a thing or two. I know I learn something new from TRs almost EVERY DAY!

Apparently, when you take a drink (or maybe I think even if you stand near them) they make sounds like someone's working inside them.

Over just beyond the breezeway leading to FW West (the side with Figment, The Seas, and The Land) in a small courtyard there are pavement markers with tributes to those who've made great advancements in science or industry, technology or innovation.

The UG says it's the best on property.

She is a featured artist in the Japan Pavillion. She handcrafts candy sculptures using rice "goo". YOu just have to see it to believe it. It's NOTHING less than amazing. Seriously, if you see NOTHING else in WS, THIS is it! Go to this LINK for the times of all the WDW entertainment, including everything in EPCOT!! He updates it every week.

The band that plays pretty good music in Morocco. I like it so much I downloaded some of their stuff. Back in the good old days that I could download from here. :headache:

Ditto, but for Mexico. Your kids might not be into just standing around to hear the tunes, but I LOVE IT!

In the wine shop, a little Remy peeks out from a basket of grapes. A cute photo op.

Inside- deeper in the Japan Pav. a WHOLE museum of tin toys- some VERY old. Just ask the CMs.

I can't tell you exactly where this is yet, I'll be looking for it though! I guess if you stand at the fountain outside the Marakesh Restaurant in Morocco, and be still you can hear a conversation of a family who "lives upstairs". YOu can even hear dishes falling in their haste to prepare for a guest who has shown up unexpectedly.

Another MUST see in my opinion. She plays the most heavenly music inside the Hall of Prayer. We caught her playing as we waited for the "China Show". LOVELY!!! Guaranteed to put the worst tempered guest in a better mood!

Those are just a couple of my photo themes. :goodvibes

Are you looking for a knuckle sandwich??

Liesa ... thank you SOOO much for taking the time to outline this for me. I know (as I mentioned in my PTR) that Epcot is the fave park for my fam ... and these tips will only add to our love of it!

BTW - I'm getting over my Disboard frustrations - I just wish they'd respond to a couple of my questions.

My experience is that mods are sometimes pretty slow at getting back to questions. One time it took over a week for someone to get back to me about something. Hang in there!

The Studios is my least favorite park...we barely spend a half day there anymore.

I love the new ensemble...I think it is great. You'll have to let me know how Jiko is. We've done one "signature restaurant" and that was Brown Derby about seven years ago and we were not impressed at all.

I think we have 3 siggie dinners planned...

Ca. Grill
JIKO
and (just me) Brown Derby

I'm most excited about Cali Grill, but also for the brown Derby, but more for nostalgic reasons than the food. It's hard to explain, but the short answer is this trip is in some (very small) aspect a tribute to my recent deceased grandma. I know she would have LOVED HBD, and since she was very instrumental in instilling my love of all things Disney, I am excited to just use that meal as sort of a 'very first thing when getting there' reflection time on her.

I don't know if that made any sense at all, but there you have it; the main reason for going there.

Perfectly understood! When my grandma died many years ago, I went to Marshall Field's (which they have now ruined by making it Macy's) and went to the Walnut Room for lunch; my grandma used to take me there once a month on the first Saturday of every month; it was my way of saying a special goodbye to her.

Definitely be sure to spend some time enjoying the streetmosphere at DHS. The shows they put on are so much fun. I never feel like I get to enjoy it nearly enough when I'm there.

I KNEW someone would understand the therapuetic nature of some of the things I have planned!

And in fact, my grandma went to the Walnut Room too!! In Glendale, CA. I think it was called that anyways. She would get her hair done, then go to lunch, and sometimes my mom and I would be in town and go with her.

YES!! I will do that, for sure. I hear that if you're a willing participant, things can get pretty fun! :rolleyes1
