An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

Hey Liesa!

Needed to be pleasntly distracted today so thought I'd catch up on some TR's. Love the binder pages. Congrats on the Cirque seatings as well.

Oh, I kept reading. I am learning I need to start heeding those warnings you put out. :sad2:

Hop all is well G.B., let us know if there's anything we can pray for you.

No...really!!1

I am seriously excited about this!

I have always thought of the WS as being so boring...and this will add some spice to it!

Now...I don't plan on spending HOURS on end there...but I am truly excited to find some of these hidden gems and see some things I have never seen before. :)

Uuuuh, huh. I heard the sarcastic tone in her typing too Liesa.

Yeah, that's exactly it. :confused3 So much for feeling special and all that. I guess it stems from the fact that this is a "hospitality culture". They really do view guests as an HONOR to have, and the more they serve, and the better they treat you, the better THE HOST/HOSTESS looks. I'd rather be treated to a seafood dinner and be given loads of extra cash for my trip! ;)

My dad told me once that the Chinese culture gives gifts away on their own birthday. I wonder if this is part of the same cultural thing your speaking to Liesa. :confused3
Anyway....Happy early Birthday to you Liesa. Hopefully next year we can celebrate it with seafood.

Happy birthday-ish! I'm with you on the seafood deal. LOVE it.

Glad you found your exerxise motivation. Mine went out for a snack.

Odd day today. Weird stuff with the car, odd day at work, strange evening. Prob just overly tired. Speaking of which, time to hit the hay. Or the synthetic polymers. Whichever the case may be. Night L.

I pray your rest is peaceful and good.

WOW!

Now that is too funny!!!

I really liked this line:
You will certainly be delighted with the "jungle" ride: here you can guide a boat through thickets of tropical plants, among which are visible "wild beasts", all with "jungle" sound effects to complete the illusion of a trip through the tropical jungle.

Sounds familiar. :confused3

Gee, I wonder where they got this from?!? :confused3 :rotfl: I guess I missed the doctors visit, what's going on with baby-cakes Tim? Is she going through routine tests?[/COLOR]

GB has really had some stresses lately, and could use our prayers!

I think maroo is in for a pleasant surprise with WS!! There really are so many hidden things there- like the jumping water bowl in China, for one. ;)

So today, we are planning out my birthday bash. Two main dishes, a whole bunch of salads, drinks, etc.... no alcohol, though. Our friends don't drink AT ALL, so we don't either (with them). There will be plenty of laughs though, and fun blessings and story telling. I imagine there may even be a few tears, this being our my last big get together with friends of this type.

Tim packed up his toys and gone home, so let me interject, if I may...Juliana goes in for scans every 3 months to make sure her cancer hasn't returned. I guess she is only completely cleared after 5 years! Luckily, this time there was no blood work. :worship:

Uh oh, is this something he's mentioned here? Well, he has them in spades!

She will be! :thumbsup2

I thought it might have been something like this. Thank you Liesa for filling me in. By the way...the thing with Mackenzie is working out well, it's amazing what a little conviction and hard discipline will do for ya. And you were right it did take some breaking it down for her where she's doing it since she been doing this for a while now, she didn't realize the line and where not to cross it. Nipping it in the bud while she's young will make all the difference I hope. Hope this is making sense.

Hi Liesa, I really like your binder pages. You have some details in them which I never heard about. Will have to look them up! :goodvibes

Did I get this right: your birthday is May 8th? I don't want to be early with birthday wishes, that's considered bad luck here in Germany (don't know why... :confused3) :upsidedow

Hey, I'm soooooooo glad you posted! I was just about to e-mail you thinking you had fallen off the face of the earth! I was thinking about you cuz it is 2 weeks until we can buy our train tickets and we need to really nail down the time to catch it from am Main. I also need to research EXACTLY where the baggage storage room is so we don't waste precious time hunting for it. I'll be writing to you soon!

Thanks!! A lot of my info came from the Imagineer's Field Guides, the 2 hidden secrets books I have, and allears!! Also, from the the hidden gems threads on the Parks and Attractions threads. Fun stuff!

So, let me understand this: is it bad luck to have a birthday on May 8th OR to wish one a happy birthday early??

There is nothing wrong with May 8th!! :goodvibes It's the wishing a happy birthday early that is bad luck. I did not want to get you worried! May 8th is actually a good day: end of WW II in Germany and Europe.

And in case you are interested in some heavy reading: Our former president Mr Richard Weizsäcker held his most famous speech on May 8th, 1985 in remembrance of the 40th anniversary of the end of the war. The speech was enormously important for the way Germany deals with its history. I did some research and here is a link to an English translation. http://www.hariguchi.org/yoichi/weizsaecker.html I think I will take the time and read the German version at home tonight, it is still a very moving text, even 25 years later.

Phew!! You had me worried. Well, not a lot, really :)

May 9th is a HUGE day here!! There are still parades, and big parties in the parks, and military displays at all the memorials, etc... I would really like to go this year for some more cultural pix. Our best ones are from the first year we were here when we lived almost next door to the WW II Memorial. All the Vets proudly wear their medals on their lapels and everyone really honors them highly.

This is one of my favorite pictures we've ever taken here:

I will definitely download the content of the link and read it. Sure beats an evening of Sudoku. :lmao: Thanks for that!

Yeah! Exactly!

What's interesting is that Uzbekistan is now a VERY closed country and things are in total disrepair. The Andijon uprising was a devastating backsliding in human rights in which the military mowed down over 1,000 people in one fell swoop. Things are crumbling everywhere, so it wouldn't surprise me if this "park-ish utopia" is nothing more than a shell of anything. :confused3

Yet, when I teach English here, and mention DisneyWorld and show pictures, they always feel compelled to remind me that Tashkent has a Disneyland. I have to convince them that it's in absolutely NO way part of the real deal. I don't think very many of them believe me.
WOW. Sometimes it is easy to forget how lucky we are to like in the US. (no Universal Studios:sad2:) That is horrible.

They don't notice a difference with the pictures? I'll go with the mouse any day!

Thanks for asking Millie. Liesa got it correct. She had an x-ray and ultrasound yesterday. Both scans were clear :goodvibes... we get to go through it again in 3 months.

That sounds like a wonderful time! What time is dinner? popcorn:: Think I can invite myself or is that frowned upon in your culture? :confused3

Agreed! Things are pretty bad there right now. Not too happy in Kyrgystan either.

me too!!

Absolutely NOT!! Hospitality is their middle name around here!! People show up all the time at my door unannounced and ask for tea. Literally. Happened just yesterday. Service with a smile :)

However, I chose to go with a local favorite- fried potatoes with meat and liver. I like it personally, but most American's don't.

Happy Almost Birthday!!!!

I love, love, love your pages of things to do. Keeping track of those details is very smart, not to mention the creativity involved! It is easy to forget to see some of those small but extremely cool things once you're actively touring.

Still waiting to hear about my September schedule...

I'm pretty happy with them too. I like the simplicity of them, and their nice, compact size.

You're so right.... once you get moving, it's easy to get caught up with the "noise" around you, and forget that the Imagineers paid so much attention to the minutae!!

And I'm anxiously awaiting! :goodvibes

Good mornin! Goood moooornin! Gee it's great to stay up late! Good mornin! Good mornin to you!

Ahhh, it's to late, she already signed off. :)

And you, and you, and you!
Good morning,
Good morning,
We've gabbed the whole night through.
Good morning, good morning to you.

Hey guys!!!

We have a bit of news! A bit of strageic planning that worked out today!

I have been checking www.mousesavers.com every now and then to make sure they don't release any AP/General Public discounts that beat my PIN they sent me....:teacher:

And I found one!!!! :woohoo: :cheer2: :dance3: :cool1:

They have Value Resorts during our stay with 30% off! :thumbsup2 My PIN only had us at 20% off - so I called and got them to apply the discount! We just saved 10% on the POP room!

POR stays the same with the Free Dining (but we only had to pay for ONE Day of tickets since it was with the bounceback offer) and POLY was already at 40% off - so no more there - but I was excited to find the savings!

I actually had to call twice because the first CM said that it was only a 15% discount. :confused3 I was glad I called again! (She didn't sound like she was completely sure of herself - said MouseSavers had it all wrong? Which I highly doubted. :goodvibes)

But a dollar saved is another dollar we can use for FUN on our trip!!

Wow, Maroo - awesome job scoring great Cirque seats and a great discount!

Liesa, I feel for ya on that.... issue... you're having. Dealt with it myself right after Lucy was born, but thankfully never since. I would think that running would be bad for it, no? Anyway, go ahead and add it to your list of excuses not to run.

The little binders are looking superb! Very comprehensive, yet not cluttered. I really like the cover of the Epcot one, with the diamond plate background and the World showcase flags in a circle - did Cynthia do that one?

And that my friend, is almost 2 CS Meals!!!!!! Yessiree- there's a reason we're not merely General Enlisted anymore! ;)

I "mostly" better, but I have a bad feeling this is just going be one of those "thorns in my flesh".

Speaking of excuses, I'm pretty sure it was Glennbo (who hasn't posted on here like since, last week, (eh, hemmmm) who said I'd likely find about 50 excuses for not running. Just so you know, Glenn, you were awfully close. Nearing the 40 mark now. And I'm only on W2 still. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

There's a lot packed onto those little pages. I'm thinking that I'll use the very unprofessional technique of going around the edges of each page with a color coordinated marker to give them some definition. I'm not about to re-print- esp. since my printer has none.

I think Cynthia DID do this one. I love them, all, but hers have a special flavor about them that is really HER.

Another 10% is awesome!!! Good shopping Maroo!!!

You slipped in there under the radar, Melissa!!! Nice Ninja technique!

I"m not sure what my $15 should equate to: 2 CS meals or like a nice cocktail in WS. :confused3:rolleyes1

Here's a birthday hug!! I see your green light is on. What are you up to? I'm watching the Glee episode that I had to DVR from last night.
