An Intimate Vow Renewal with Kids: Hawaii is a no-go

Dresses 3 and 5 are my favorites, but I love them all. I REALLY love #3 though... but I apparently just really love lace wedding dresses! It's beachy but still romantic. I like the look of the half-up with beachy waves, and I think I prefer the more colorful flowers. They all look lovely, though.

Thanks for the feedback. SO hard to decide. I also love dresses with lace, so romantic. I will have to start trying some on and seeing how they fit.

DRESS SHOPPING: ROUND 2

Ok this weekend I went to two stores to look as some dresses. I can't say I found exactly what I was looking for but I found two that are on my list of maybes. Please forgive my goofy expressions. I look so stupid on most of these pics but my husband shot them real quick.
So here is goes:

Here are the dresses in order that I tried them on:

1) This fit me well and accentuated my curves but it is more structured and modern than I was looking for. I was hoping for chiffon or lace but I am keeping it in the running as it did look nice on me. I would have to wear it with my hair up accented with a bright tropical flower.




2) I loved how this chiffon dress felt and it was in that blush pink I was originally going for but the shape was not that flattering on me. It was kind of blah!



3) This dress I tried because in was in blush pink but I found that it looked to much like a grad dress. I hated the gem details on the side of the dress.

4) Tried a short chiffon dress and it also did nothing for me.

Then I went to another store. Here I found more bohemian dresses. I kind of like the look better but still not exactly what I was searching for.

5)This dress was really pretty but not sure it looks be "beachy" enough.

6) This one was my favourite. I almost bought it but it had a stain on the back. I will look online to see if I can order a new one.


7) This one was not bad from the front. Very simple dress but I did not like the back of the dress.

6 is really pretty. Sheer, but light and looks like with flowers in your hair, a great match. If you are going for short, that should be a contender.

Oh, and if you stay with a white or blush color dress, then I would do color flowers in your hair. So beach looking, with the lei in a similar color.

I adore #6! You look amazing in all of them - I have to say #1 is also a WOW factor dress. And I love the flower-in-your-hair idea. That will be so so pretty.

I think #1 would look amazing with a bright colored flower in your hair. I actually think #2 looks very nice on you as well! It's too bad about the back of #7, because it looks really good from the front. I think the back would look just fine if it only had the lacy halter part, without those t-straps in the middle.

6 is really pretty. Sheer, but light and looks like with flowers in your hair, a great match. If you are going for short, that should be a contender.

I was not planing on a short dress but I really loved dress# 6 on me.The problem is that that one had a stain on the back and I could not find it online. I will have to go back to store and see if they can find me another. I am going to keep looking. Hopefully will find something I love. Fingers crossed.

#1 seems to be the best looking on me but, like I said, was not really the style I was looking for but I am keeping it as a contender. #2 I actually tried on a size too big so maybe that is why it looks so frumpy but it was not my favourite. #7 was really simple and pretty from the front but I did not like those t-starps as you mentioned. Number one is beautiful on you but if it's not what you are going for then don't settle!
There are a lot of places and a lot of dresses out there and you'll find the one!

Number six is also stunning on you! If anything, it can be your "reception" dress and you'll feel even more fabulous that day with your wardrobe change!
I'm not sure what the stain looks like but if it looks removable, maybe the store can mark down the price and you can find a way to remove the stain.
If not, I'm sending you good vibes that you can find another dress in perfect condition!​

Thanks, it is always great to hear encouragement. I don't know why dress shopping is so daunting for me. Maybe it is because I hate shopping, especially for myself. I am a very indecisive person as you can tell, LOL!
I think I am going to keep looking until I find "the One", like you said. I don't want to settle.
I will go back to the store today to see if I they can find me another dress (#6) without a stain. The stain is yellow spot in the middle of the back, like if the dress was left under a lamp. It does not look like it will come out. If they can't find another I will just give up on it! I really like this dress even if it is not for the vow renewal. I can wear it to the "reception" as you mentioned!

I know, too many choices. I am driving myself nuts. I am so indecisive, argh! The short dresses are cute but not "special" enough so I will drop that idea. I don't want to wear a full on wedding dress but I want something that is romantic and feels special for our vow renewal. I think I just haven't found what I am looking for yet and in the end I was going to settle for something just to get it done with. I started shopping around online and I will try on a couple of more dresses before making a final decision.

Go find a hippy store. That whole genre was very bohemian. And the plus, you'll be comfortable! And if it's cotton blend you can wash the darn thing or wear it again for a nice dinner.

The one shoulder dresses always look like Roman Goddess style dresses to me. I think you will find something soon. It's a process. It's not like you have to book it, you have some time.
I'm going tonight to try. I'm very self conscious about they way I look in dresses, so I'm bringing my girlfriend with me.

I'm loving your ideas and your posts. Makes me want to plan a trip to Hawaii. LOL

You might check out Modcloth.com. It's all online which is slightly scary but their return policy is good (if expensive from Canada) lots of girls get their more unconventional wedding dresses from here. I selected dresses then filtered it down to white dresses only. This was my favorite

OMG, thank you so much. The dresses are really nice. I really like the dress you picked out too. I was a little scared to order online but will look into it anyways. I do have a friend in the USA, maybe can ship it there and go get it. We'll see.

That would probably save you a lot as the shipping is much cheaper and you'd skip the duty charges... Plus the return postage would be tons cheaper if it didn't work out.
