An idea for attractions that are closing/have closed

Sorry if any mod thinks this belongs on a different board, but this is the one I frequent...

I think it would be a good idea for Disney to make a DVD of each ride that's closed, like possibly an interactive "ride" exactly like the original, with the latest CGI or for the rides that are going to close, to get high quality video of them.

That way it could be easier to "let go" of the old attractions.

Opinions?

I think that it would be like keeping pictures of the old girlfriends around the house. ;)

I am sure that they have documentation (video) of all of the rides. Filming for posterity was a "Walt" kind of thing. I just don't think that they would ever publish it or make it available to the public. It might make people wonder as to the direction of the company; i.e. "You replaced this quality ride with that garbage?"

Or to agree with Roy, "Do my hips look larger than hers....."

Most of the people on this board are a little older, and we remember the quality and innovation that Disney had. Imaging a whole new generation learning of what is too expensive to do.....

Nope, once a ride is gone it's gone. Like Song of the South "It ain't never comin' back again neither!"

And finally, for your dvd viewing pleasure, there's The Extinct Attractions Club

Thanks d-r. Thats a site I didn't know of. looks like my DVD budget just went up this month!

I think this is a really good idea. I would certainly want to buy a video/dvd of COP or SE to enjoy long after the rides have disappeared.

It does not have to be just for rides that are closing either. Ongoing rides and shows would provide us with reminders of what we can see on our next visit and act as advertisements for new visitors.

Some of the 360 degree films would be difficult to replicate other than as one person's viewing style but it would be great to see the original China film and the Timekeeper one.

It would be cheap to produce and could provide extra income from pre-existing assets.

Hound, for the record, I haven't bought any of those dvds, I am not recommending the site or vouching for them - I just found the site one day. I don't know if they are any good or even if they are on the up and up, so caveat emptor is the best I can say - if you do get one why not let us know how it goes? I saw they had the "set" for $100 and I thought about it, but I didn't feel comfortable putting the money in -

Duly noted. I didn't actually take your post as an endorsment, but I still appreciate you letting me know you haven't done business with them. I'm will probably risk buying a DVD or 2 from them. I will let everyone here know how it works out.

Actually, I have pictures of old girlfriends. Okay, so they're not MY old girlfriends. :) Just kidding.

I don't really need a DVD, but it's a good idea. I have very vivid memories of rides I loved like Horizons and WofM and only a fading mind as I creep up in age can take them away. I especially remember...what were we taking about again?
