We drove to Disney earlier in March. Are 95 and 4 always such a mess? Anyway, we are traveling on 95 just past Daytona a little bit and there is a motorcycle about two or three cars a head of us in the other lane. Traffic is moving, but it is busy. All of a sudden, these little square chunks (about three of them) come tumbling down the road. There was nothing you could do but keep going and hope you don't get a flat. A few seconds later, there is stuff flying all over above the highway. As it comes down we notice a few pieces of clothing and then a whole bunch of money. If it was all singles it had to be 500 to a thousand dollars. It was flying all over the highway. Apparently the biker ahead of us lost it either out of his pockets or out of the saddle bags on the back of his bike. He pulled over about 1/2 mile down the highway. We would love to have stopped to help him, but there was too much traffic and we had the kids in the car. All I did was shut my eyes and pray no one would hit their breaks and cause an accident because it was literally raining money. We felt so bad for the poor guy. There was nothing he could do but but walk up and down both sides of the highway trying to collect whatever blew off. All I can think is that maybe he sold a bike or something at bike week because it was a lot of money. The clothes could be replaced, but the money is just gone. I tried to look back and did not see an accident. DH is willing to try flying next time after that experience. I think he realized how easy it would be to get in an accident on the long drive. I really did not mind the drive itself, but I did not like worrying about getting in an accident, having car trouble, or the safety of all of us when we stopped somewhere off 95. We felt so bad for the biker. DH has a friend who went to bike week and got mugged for 1000 dollars. His wife says he got mugged, his friends say he was entertaining a new female friend in his hotel room and she made the most of the opportunity. Sounds to me like bike week is an awfully expensive venture for those poor guys. If you drive, whatever you do don't try to stop for flying money.
