An Anaheim/Arendelle Miracle? Probably not, but once more unto the breach my friends.

So I had a fine but flawed lunch experience at Carthay Circle last January and at the time wrote it off as just one of those things to live and let live. We live on the other side of the country and trips to California are rare and after 2 middling visits to DLR in that last year we were fine just letting the West World of Disney get along without us.

But, to their credit, the Carthay restaurant management did do a fine job reaching out to us to beseech our return for another meal with them. And I said ... probably not. But then by providence of some benevolent overseer, we've all been uprooted from our comfortable Michigan snow (yes still) and planted just a few hours from Walt's Rough Draft. So... We get another trip to DLR in a couple weeks.

So what would it take for me to step foot back into Carthay Circle? Well a reservation would help and a Frozen priority seating package would cinch it. No sweat I think, we bought our last Frozen dining package the day of the show, how hard can it be? And yet, I tried hourly, every single day, from April 16 to May 2 and could not get a lunch res at Carthay, let alone the Frozen package. I started calling in favors, but all my favors are people in Florida and there is really a serious organizational divide between WDW and DLR. No love for me. I know, 1st world problems, gonna have to sit in the Hyperion 'parking lot' for an hour or two like everyone else.

Then, like the clouds parting on a rainy day to reveal a rainbow colored unicorn made out of fresh saltwater taffy, on May 2 the dam broke on all those pent up reservations (cue the angelic choir).

TL : DR - If you've been stumped by a Carthay Circle reservation ... Try again.

This post is a masterpiece.
Well, thank you. It's a bit much but holy cow, after 2 weeks of straight up reservation stalking and getting nothing this was a hallelujah moment and I just had to let the keyboard off its leash. Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war; in this case the dogs being Pluto and Goofy.

Proof positive that it really pays to keep checking often (either by phone or online) for cancellations. They really do happen, and if you find the opening you want, grab it! That's how we got some prime NYE reservations last year. Never give up -- pixie dust can happen!
