An American in (Disney) Paris- don't want a package

Looking to visit for a few days in mid October. Will 2 days be enough? Do I need to make it 3? I'm a semi regular at Califonia Disneyland so I probably have a slight (maybe?) handle on a few of the basic things to make the best use of my time (like making use of fastpass, and really don't need to stand in lines to see characters, plus since I know a lot of the rides probably once is enough - except the favorites!). We will be going mid week. My only real concern seems to be if I can squeeze in all the places I want to eat in that amount of time!

But my main questions, right now I'm looking at hotel prices. All I can seem to come up with via the disney website are packages. How do I just book a room, no package?

And certainly, I'm always up for tips!

3 days would be better but if it means cutting back on time in Paris 2 days would be enough. Midweek in mid October shouldn't be too busy.

Room only prices are sometimes higher than packages! I've just had a look on Expedia for the Disneyland Hotel for dummy dates in October and it's a lower price inclusive of tickets than without!

Had you decided on a hotel yet? Don't know if you want a Disney hotel or are happy to stay at one of the nearby offsites - Explorers, Dream Castle, Magic Circus or Kyriad as you can usually get much better prices at one of these. Or you can stay even cheaper in Val d'Europe, one stop away on the train.

I agree, mid-week in October is generally nice and quiet - so 2 days should be time, but always better with 3

Is there a reason you don't want a package? Do you have an annual pass or planning on buying day tickets?

As Ware Bare's says, if you want to stay on site a package with tickets will most probably be a lot cheaper. If you choose to stay offisite, most associated hotels have a free shuttle bus to and from the parks.

Thanks for the input, we already have tickets that we can use for admission so we were hoping that could save us some money, seems that might not be the case, especially because we do prefer to stay on property for the magic we think it adds to the trip. I appreciate you confirming this! Guess we will just have to bite the bullet and get tickets as part of the package. Now to decide just how much we want to spend aka where we want to stay! Thanks again for clarifying!

As a fellow DLR regular who took a week-long trip to Paris a couple of years ago, I will humbly advise that two days is not enough. We actually took four days for the parks and felt that was about right to do things in a leisurely way. We also went to the city of Paris one day, and I honestly felt that was enough! I could spend a lot more time in London, Rome, Venice, Copenhagen, or a myriad of other European cities but Paris just didn't do much for me. Thanks goodness we had Disney magic so close by!

Thanks Iceman, It's looking like we will up it to 3 days at DLP. It's funny, I somehow have this nagging suspicion that I'm not going to love Paris either, but feel like I have to give it a shot; I'm sure there are amazing things there it's just whether it's my niche or not. Maybe my relatively low expectations will make it all that more thrilling! That's how my trip to Japan was, low expectations but it turned out great (note- yes, we do travel places with out a Disney park!). We will be doing 2ish weeks in Germany then a week (maybe 6 days) total for Paris & DLP, probably 3 days each. Starting to get anxious about details for it all; I think one of my favorite things about travelling is the planning that goes into the few months leading up to the trip!! I'm currently stalking plane tickets...

I don't know how many are in your party, but it is usually cheapest to book a package for 1 adult and then add other adults on at check in. This costs 2 euros per additional adult per night and includes breakfast. To be sure that you get enough beds ring the hotel a few days before check in and tell them that you have additional adults that don't need park tickets and you need a room with 2 double beds. This has worked for us on our past few visits and we are doing it again in August.
