All about us

First let me say I travel. I travel alot. I have lived oversea's, travelled round the world 2.5 times, and yes, folks I hate to admit it... have never been to Mecca. Yep, I have never been to WDW in Florida. I have been to Disney Land, Euro Disney, but never to Mecca. It has taken me 6 years of marriage to my wonderful husband to get my MIL to agree to go on a WDW trip. My dear MIL has just started to travel - we have taken her to Hawaii, and Jamaica. She enjoyed both trips so much, that she started to plan a wonderful trip for the whole family - all three of her children, and grand children. We were to be going back to Jamaica - where we went last December. But when it came down to put down the deposits, I could not do it. I chickened out.

So I am giving you alittle background to understand how we ended up getting to go on a Disney trip. It is because of my daughter. She has life threatening allergies, and we almost lost her on our last family trip. Let me say, spending two days in a hosptial in a 3rd world is not my idea of a great family vacation. While the hotel/hosptial was wonderful, I knew I would be on pins and needles the whole time we were out of country. Not my idea of a good trip. Then I came accross this board, and saw how well Disney handled food allergies, how they really did their best to ensure that the children had a wonderful time and felt like they were still apart of a group.

So I put my foot down, and explaned that Emily would not be going anywhere unless it was on a Disney Vacation - that they "Get it". That Emily will not be going back to a 3rd world country for a long long time. That I wanted to take her somewhere that ALL of us could relax and enjoy our selves. To have a family vacation. So, in the end - my 6 year battle ended with a wonderful trip planned for all the kids, grandkids and grandparents going to Disney.

So now all I have to do is get Pregnant in the next 2 months! (Darn Disney and the 12 week old baby rule, no travel beyond 25 weeks!)

Blog and Updates

July 8, 2007

Is it to soon to start a packing list? I mean, December 2008 is right around the corner right? I ALREADY have a 6 page Excle file with our daily time table, color coded (each person has a color) - a wish list for our Disney Dining, and a outline of the Parks we want to visit. I have contact a local shop to find out what types of food/gift items we can pre order - and if they will work with our allergies. I have a box marked "Disney" where I am putting things that I am buying ALREADY for our trip. Yes, my DD Jolly Holiday Dress, is already in it! I surf the net daily looking for WD hair bows (I don't like bottle cap bows) and I am trying to decide on what type of "Pirate" Dress my three year old would look sweet in.. Pink? Gold? Brown? Do I want her to look sweet, scary?

Daily I look on the Disney site to see if we can book our hotel yet, I pray that the Disney Dining will not change (unless its for the better :) ). I keep track of all the new info I can find - and am trying to decide what I should do for our door on our cruise.. speaking of Doors.. do you decorate the hotel door as well? Or just shipboard? I will have to find out...

I also have to decide if I am going to buy the above Elizabeth Swan Wedding Gown for my Toddler for the Pirate Dress up night.. any views?

Back to more planning. I read some great reports lastnight, so today I am going to hunt around to find more info. I am sure by the time our trip comes I will have made 101 changes to our plans.

The anwsers I am looking for this week:

  • Pillow Cases - the how and why of it all. (Just cause I want one!)
  • Dinner Reses by the Window at Poly - What is there to see?
  • Door signs - Just for the cruise or also the resort?
  • Should I make them for EVERY door in our cruise? (5)

July 11, 2007

Well I have spent the last two days cleaning my house, getting ready INCASE we have to sell it - and move to the USA. So not much planning has gone on. I have looked at the Passport book site, and am going to pick up a book in the new year - I have made our allergest appointment for Fall 2007 - and though I don't think we will have any good news, I would like to HOPE we may have some. I am going to take a copy of the Disney Medical form for him to fill out incase we go to Disneyland for Christmas this year. I am not holding out for that - but it sure would be nice!
I have added a few more things to my "Disney Box" - I think I am going to have to get a larger box soon!

That Mary Poppins dress is practically perfect in every way!

We don't have life threatening food allergies but our dd has food allergies too, enough to have to carry in most if not all of dd's food on the plane in a cooler with dry ice!

My cousin is going to Disney in Dec of 2008 and I told her she'd better get on over here and start her pre trip planning, that people were planning their trips that far out now, and see??? I was right.

Sending you lots of fertility babymaking vibes :wizard:
