Hi, i'm joining in! I started reading this and thought 2 things: you are an AWESOME sister, and WHOA... I need someone in my household that has Tye Dye Cheesecake on the table when I get home! You guys rock!

Haha, thanks! He's a good brother too...sometimes! (like the random cheesecakes!) We should get him that Disney cook book we see in Disney all the time

I don't recommend it, for us it was not worth it at all!

Great trip report! Sounds like a great Birthday trip. :)

Thanks :) It was a lot of fun!

Count me in girl!

:wave2: Yay! Welcome! We had a great time, so its not entirely selfless after all I get to go with him!!

One of the things that David wanted to do for his birthday was the Pirates league. He had researched it when it was announced and just thought it would be a lot of fun. I decided to join in on the fun, and I was very skeptical. David had a blast though!! It felt a little awkward to me though, and the pirate that was helping me did not stay in character like David's helper did, and loved talking to me about being a graphic designer and how awesome the shirts I made were. I think I would have enjoyed it more and felt less awkward if she stayed in character, but it made me happy to see how much fun David was having. They made a very big deal over the shirts and David's birthday, and it was also fun that after I finished I got to watch David finish, and see how the Pirates can calm a fearful little boy. This one Pirate did an AWESOME job with a new 4 year old first mate who started out screaming and ended up loving it! But now on to the specifics!!

So we took the toon town train to frontierland and walked over from there and checked in. We were led in and asked to spin a treasure chest with dice, and asked our birthday month and this is how we chose our new Pirate names.

David was no longer David, he was now Edgar Dreadfoote.

I was no longer Nicole, I was now Constance Edgewater.

I chose the Empress, and David chose the Multi Eyed Jack!

We were introduced to our Pirates, and began our initiation into Jack Sparrow's crew! This started with a rousing version of "Yo ho, yo ho, a Birthday pirate I see!" David loved it!

I had a lot of choices, like what color eye patch, what color eye shadow, nail polish, what style jewels for my face, I loved it! When you are done they make your recite the pirates oath, and they announce to the room that they have a new pirate in their crew! I finished rather quickly so I have lots of photos of David's transformation!

David's awesome CM:

We were given our swords and buckles and a goody bag filled with false teeth and other fun pirate goodies! We were led into a secret room and told not to tell anyone about the room because only Pirates were allowed to see!! I will tell you that we both received pieces of 8!

A very fun experience, and David even said he would do it again! I don't know if I would, but if I can find another adult female willing: I may try the Bibbidi Bobbity Boutique! Yes we were the only adults there but we never felt out of place, and we got lots of praise walking around the park. As we were leaving 2 adults were checking in and they used us as an example of how fun it is.

We had to go on Pirates dressed as pirates!! I was surprised when none of the CM said anything, but it didn't ruin that awesome ride!

We were starting to get hungry, so we went over to Columbia Harbor House! The cast members of CHH sang Happy Birthday to david as we went up to get our food, so fun!! I got the new shrimp platter which was good and David got the chicken. I really love the new chocolate cake that the CS places have now, yum!

There was a woman at a neighboring table who was celebrating a birthday but she was in a wheelchair so a family member was getting their food. All of a sudden we hear a team of CM shouting up the stairs singing the same song to her as they did for David, it was awesome!

Here's my pirate makeover:

We decided to make our exit, but I told David I had to use the restroom. I didn't, I just had to call the WL for another surprise! I had ordered Balloons from the Disney florist and wanted to make sure they were in the room for our arrival. As i stood in the ladies bathroom a line began to form with many people staring at me. One woman went to her friend and said "See?? She got to do it!"

The phone conversation did not end well. When I called they told me they had no record of it, and no idea where the balloons were. At this point I was not happy with my WL, from the room situation, to the AC not working originally (I forgot to mention that) and now this. There was nothing I could do but wait and go to the front desk. But I was afraid that if they had delivered them I wouldn't see David's reaction when he walked in. As we were leaving the parade was about to start so main street was crowded but we found a photopass photographer to take our pirate photo and he was more than happy to!

David's next decision was to take the boat back to the WL, and we just missed it! Oh well. Eyes closed:

I walked David to the room (just in case) and it turns out the balloons were there! I was very excited to see they had found a Wall-E balloon (they told me on the phone they would try but wasn't sure they had them) David loved his surprise!

We had to freshen up because we had David's birthday dinner at Le Cellier, his favorite surprise of the day that night, and an awesome Illuminations experience!

Loved both of your Pirate looks! Wow - when David closed his eyes, that was creepy! :scared1: but cool! :woohoo: Your balloon surprise was great :thumbsup2

His pirate look was creepy especially since he has blue eyes!! I kept telling him to shut his eyes the whole afternoon!! I was happy about the balloons also because they were fairly inexpensive it was great working with the disney florist!

I didn't know all that happened in the Pirate league! How cool is that?! You & David both look awesome! :thumbsup2

I bet you were so relieved to see the balloons on the bed when yall walked in! I know that was probably so frustrating hearing that they had no record of it.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your night!

You are just one cool surprise after the other! :cool1: AND, btw, the eye thing is awesome! :thumbsup2

I was so relieved! I still spent a good amount of time at the front desk because I wanted to make sure David's next surprise was going to be in the room when we returned! The pirates league gives you a bunch of fun stuff, the best were the swords! It's even worth it more now that its $30

You are just one cool surprise after the other! :cool1: AND, btw, the eye thing is awesome! :thumbsup2

I just love giving/getting surprises so I had to make this birthday special for him, 18 is big! I thought the eye thing was creepy and cool esp. because his natural eye color is blue!

Oh man now i wanna do Pirate league. Fun! He looked so cool!

I recommend pirates league, maybe if more adults did it, I could go get my fix at the BBB :lovestruc

You would appreciate my den right now.
It is full of Winnie the Pooh things.

Very cool. :thumbsup2

Love WTP!! Its my favorite breakfast and ride at the MK! (well maybe fantasyland) David had a blast at the Pirates League!

At least the balloons were there when you guys got back to the hotel. The pirates league is pretty sweet. I was there when my nephew was getting made up. He was celebrating his birthday also, they even gave him another pin with his "new" name on it. I thought it was cute.

Yeah I was so happy the balloons were there but still a little miffed about the stress :confused3 David got that pin I forgot to mention it was so funny! They did a great job.

Happy Easter! :goodvibes

It's belated but same to you!! :cheer2:

So during our relaxing time down at the WL, I told David that i had to go to the front desk to check the bill. This was only partially true, the real reason I wanted to go there was to make sure that tonights surprise, was not going to stress me out like the balloons did!!

So I went to guest services and they are so super nice down there, it took about 20 minutes for him to go check and make sure that the surprise was there but it was so nice that he did! While there, I heard an interaction that piqued my curiosity! A father and son walked over to guest services next to me and said they were visiting for lunch but were interested in staying there the next time they came to WDW. They were wondering if they could see a room.

My ears perked!! You can do this?? Think of the possibilities! No more looking at photos and guessing what the rooms would be like! We would have to do this at the Poly for sure!!

When the CM returned all was right on schedule for the surprise, so I retreated back to the room to catch the last bits of relaxation before heading out to Epcot!

So we took the bus to Epcot, getting to Le Cellier just in time for our ADR!

I just love Le Cellier!! David and I both got the same thing: The mushroom filet. I get mine butterflied to thin it out and it is sooo yummy!!! But David's favorite thing at Le Cellier is the Maple Creme Brulee and he couldn't order it fast enough!! He was so excited for a birthday creme brulee!

We had time remaining for Illuminations so we walked around a bit and decided to play a Kim Possible mission. This time it was in Germany, but as we continue to do these I find them to get a little boring. David loves them, and they are what you make of them, and we try to add a little more fun to them! Here's a couple of German night shots:

As we approached our spot in France we had about 30 minutes to show time, and I had promised David we would get pastries in France, but as we approached the bakery, I couldn't believe my eyes!! The tabled by the water were WIDE OPEN!! These are never available, even hours before Illuminations!! We called it birthday mojo/magic, and we staked out the spot!! I left David at the table to wait on the always huge line over in France to grab us some pastries and lattes!

Here is our AWESOME illuminations spot!

When I returned it was just in time and we enjoyed such a wonderful show sitting and relaxing!!

We slowly walked back to the buses with the masses talking about the great birthday day and how excited we were for our upcoming longer trip, because we were already sad that tomorrow was our last full day.

In my head I was thinking it wasn't over just yet!! We got to the room, and I was delighted to see this:

IMG_3993.jpg

David was beside himself!! He was so excited about his cake!!

A little backstory:

I found out about Chef Brian at the contemporary from the DIS Boards Cake Chatter Thread, and saw the beautiful cakes he has created!! I did a little research and found out that the only other hotel the Contemporary delivers to is the WL! So i contacted Brian, and told him about David: An 18 year old guitar musician, who loves music, wall-e, and hidden mickeys! We went back and forth for about a month and than all was set! Everything on this cake was edible including the guitar!! David just couldn't believe it. He was overjoyed. We lit the candles, and sang happy birthday and when David dug in he just couldn't believe how good it was!!
