Hello,

New to this site as of today =)
My family and I have decided to the the train route to Disney World this year intead of our regular taking of a plane route to save money because airfaire is outrageous at the moment and we kinda waited last minute on getting flights so we opted for the train. I guess my question is has any done this travel before and any suggestions on good ways to get to our resort either by Taxi? Bus? Shuttle? not sure what the options will be at the Amtrak station. Also I would love to find a not out of the way grocery store so I can grab a bunch of waters and a few items for in the room if you have any suggestions I would be very greatful for any help we can get because it looks to me like there are alot of Disney experts on here =) =) it;s the main reason why I joined because tons of good info on this site. We are leaving this April during the kids vacation and can't wait!!! thanks ahead :bitelip:

We always do the train when going to Disney and we use a town car service to get to our hotel. Most town car services offer an option for a grocery stop. Note that not all of the services will go to Kissimmee, some just go to the Orlando Amtrak station.

Great !
Thanks DanBoris :)
I just looked a few up and you brought up a good point about making sure I find one that does the Kissimmee stop and not just the Orlando stop.
I could not believe my eyes when I saw they stopped a grocery store as well that is a huge relief so I can pick up some milk and cereal for my boys in the morning since we have the Disney dining package which only includes 1 quick service 1 sit down and 2 snacks . Btw we are from Rhode Island and we don't have liquer in our grocery stores... Do they have beer and wine in Florida grocery stores?? figured I could save a bunch by getting it for the room instead of at the resort.

Thanks ahead :goodvibes

I believe the Florida grocery stores don't sell alcohol. However the Super Target stores sell wine. Not sure about beer at Target

Florida grocery stores sell both beer and wine - if you want the hard stuff you would have to go to a Liquor store ;)

I have taken Amtrak from New York to Disney several times. I have only once used the Kissimmee station once. It is a nice little station. I prefer Orlando(about 45 minutes) because you get to Disney faster as the train waits at Orlando for about twenty minutes. If you are traveling by coach I prefer the Kissimee station for your return home trip as many passengers board the train in ORL. If you board in KIS you get a little better seat. If you are in a sleeper it doesn't make a difference. I use a car service and request a grocery stop. The service I use takes me to Target and I can also get Beer and Wine. Traveling by train is fun And I prefer to travel this way. I meet my family down there. I am leaving soon for our trip and cant wait. :yay:

But some have a Spirits store kind of connected to them. We have gone to the Super Walmarts near WDW and they sell beer and wine inside and spirits in a store, while connected to the Walmart it has its own outside entrance.

a fellow Rhody! I am from WW but now live up north. Airfare has been VERY cheap for MAy from TFGreen (like $20!!!) but not sure on other months.I would keep checking! That being said I ONLY take the train to Disney :wizard:
I have a big thread on the subject with pics so search it out and read away. Lots of great tips! I hope you got the reward program!!!

quick note-I rent a car from the Hertz at the station in Orlando. Paying $250 for 11 days this may!!!
