Long story short, we are staying at GC for 2 nights then will join ABD's Backstage Magic at Loews Hollywood ...
Looking at my options in terms of transferring to LA, I love the idea of catching a train from Anaheim to Union Station and then Red Line Metro to Hollywood...
Did anyone of you do it? I would probably upgrade to Business Class seat (for an extra ten bucks each, would be rude not to !)
Looking forward to hearing about your experiences...
Many thanks in advance!

Its completely straight forward. Not a particularly exciting train journey I'm afraid. Not very long either and the ordinary seats are more than adequate for the journey.

I've only used the red line twice but both times the trains have been frequent. You just need to be cool with being underground in an earthquake zone :-)

There's also the Metrolink Orange County line. It doesn't run all day to LA though.

We do it often. We live in Hollywood and it's a great way to get to and from Disneyland.

Technically speaking the safest place to be in all of Los Angeles in the event of a major quake is in those tunnels.

We are going to do Amtrak to Union Station to the Texas Eagle.

Already booked for fall but how do you get from Disneyland resort to the Anaheim Station? By Taxi or shuttle? We will have our luggage with us.

Also looking at transport from west hollywood to DL for our trip to LA. Read that the train takes 3-4hrs in total to get from hollywood to DL? Is this true or not? Is a shuttle bus a better option or Amtrak? Im from Australia so dont know much about the public transport system in the US.

Probably taxi to the closest L.A. Metro (light rail) station to take the Red Line to LA Union Station. From there - either Amtrak California's Pacific Surfliner or Metrolink's Orange County line to Anaheim. Maybe 2 hours.

I'm getting 1 hr, 16 minutes from Hollywood/Highland to Anaheim at 7:27 AM via the Red Line and Orange County line for a weekday.

Use the public transportation search option on Google maps for the day of the week and time you will actually be traveling. Metrolink trains are limited at some times of the day. From. Union Station you can take Metrolink or Surfliner (Amtrak), the time difference is a few minutes, but one might work better for your schedule. For the search, I'd put the start and end points as the stations. If you use say, hotel addresses the search will add in buses between the stations.

Ok thats a lot better than what i searched for lol. So I'll take the Amtrak Surfliner to Anaheim station, then what after that? Can you walk from
There to DL or is there a shuttle you can take from there? And also what about leaving the park? If i want to leave at park closing which is 10pm at the time I am going, is public transport still running at that time?

There might be all night bus service. However, I don't think it's recommended unless there are no other options.

No, you can not walk from Anaheim Station to Disneyland. If you did, its a 2 mile walk.

ART provides shuttles to and from Anaheim Station, however, they run every hour.

If you are going to go to any train station in the area go to Fullerton Amtrak Train Station. OCTA (Orange County Transportation Authority) has two buses that run from Disneyland entrance on Harbor to the station every 15-30 mins.

Yes, there is a late night bus operated by LA Metro that will take you from the Disneylands Harbor Boulevard entrance to Downtown LA. I've ridden it a few times and never had any issues other than it being a long ride.

If you're talking about taking public transportation from WeHo to Anaheim and back in the same day, I'd definitely take a cab from the Amtrak station. You'd be increasing a 2 hour trip to 2 1/2 hours each way. It's probably faster to take the red line to the 460 bus downtown and skip Amtrak or Metrolink altogether.
