we will be celebrating dd's b day next time we are in wdw and I wanted to make a special ice cream stop. Which one would you recommend for a special occasion? We (hopefully) will be staying at bwv.

Ample Hills doesn't have indoor seating, but the ice cream and sundaes are SO much better than B&C, IMHO. If you want a place to sit down and be served a meal or a sundae (or the kitchen sink!), I would go to B&C, but make sure you make a reservation. If you aren't on the dining plan, you could also head over to The Fountain at the Dolphin which has a "50's soda fountain" atmosphere. The food is slightly better than B&C, IMHO. You could also eat at the Plaza in MK! They have good sundaes. Or even get to-go sundaes at the Plaza ice cream shop in MK. We like doing that and then sitting outside in the Plaza or Tomorrowland Terrace area. If you want servers to possibly say "happy birthday!" to your daughter, though, your best bets are B&C, The Fountain or the Plaza.

I would check menus at all of the ice cream places and then decided. If you want non-park and close to BW, then you have the two you mentioned, plus The Fountain at the Dolphin.

As far as I know AH (I truly cannot stand their name lol) makes their own ice cream. And as far as I know B&C is just the same old Edy's you can get all over Disney and at the grocery store (Dreyer's for the west coast people). Nothing special about that!

Thank you for all the replies. Ample hills sounds like a better option if they make their own ice cream. I don't mind that no seating. Are there benches on the boardwalk?

Yes! I, too, cannot stand the name "Ample Hills!" Sounds like a phrase from a Harlequin romance novel!

Apparently they chose the name from a Walt Whitman poem. I too think it is a bit odd.

There are (I believe) a few tables outside in front of Ample Hills and a number of park benches and some general seating tables along the Boardwalk - however on a busy night you may need to "stalk" a bit to get a table.

Yes, there are outdoor tables and benches, but as PP noted, in the evening, you may need to do a little "stalking" to get a place to sit. You can sit on the village green if you don't mind sitting on the grass and, since you are staying at BWV, you could even go sit in the pool area.

Although the ice cream is better at Ample Hills (love their variety) B&C is a fun place to have a birthday celebration and the ice cream is good there too. There are only a few tables outside Ample Hills and during the day (on a hot day) you have to eat your ice cream fast or it will melt LOL! At night it can get quite busy. I just put some photos from our visit up-feel free to check them out-

I ate ice cream at B&C and AH On our trip last month when we stayed at the Beach Club. AH was amazing, probably one of the best ice creams I've ever had. I would get ice cream from there in the evening and then watch the entertainment on the Boardwalk.

We loved AH. A variety of ice cream choices that were unique. I loved that Oatmeal Cookie one!

People mentioned that there are only a few tables near Ample Hills. Remember that there are several food places whose customers use those tables - Boardwalk Bakery, pizza to go window, and the kiosk (can't remember what it's called but I got French Fries there) come to mind.

One more thing to keep in mind... Check the hours of operation at AH. According to Disney's website, it's open 2pm-7pm. Does that fit into your schedule?
