No, please. Let's not with any more niche ice cream concepts. S&S isn't all that either. Honestly, they should bring back the candy shop/ice cream concept that used to be on the Boardwalk. Something classic and timeless.

What I want to see is a milk tea/boba tea shop. Chatime would be a great company to go in there.

That doesn't have a broad enough appeal to go in such a high visibility spot. Maybe I'm just jaded, though, because I live in a predominantly Asian area and there are literally over a hundred of them in my city alone.

I don't think the demographic at WDW would support a place like this. It could be very popular in DL, though, but there aren't any on property here either, so it must not be something that has the capacity to be lucrative.

True, but if not for the pandemic the new owner *may* have gone forward with the Disney locations. Problem is that there's just nowhere near enough guest traffic to cover the overhead anytime soon.

Obviously we'll never know, but it's certainly possible.

I think you are wrong. It is a very popular thing right now. I know that my city only has 2 places and they are packed all the time, even with them being in an area that is not the demographic. People drive from one end of the city to get their fix. I think this is either a love it or leave it thing, but many really do love it. Just the fact that your city can support over 100 of these shops is telling. And not just Asians. My family is lactose intolerant and so the ice cream shops do nothing for us. There are many that are like us. Plus, as I said, you can get ice cream everywhere else on property. Boba tea also has the benefit of being very insta-worthy. As much as I think that is silly, you can't deny that it is popular right now.
