Amex rate w/ National - too good too be true!?

I plugged in the Amex contract ID (from Mousesavers) into National for a 3 day weekend.. It came out to $89--total!!! It just sounds to good to be true. The lowest I could find any other way was $131. The only problem is -- it's my MIL who has an amex card-- and I don't know that she will want to drive.

Mousesavers says that though it would be wise, it doesn't appear you have to use the Amex card when renting. Which makes me wonder if I could rent it.. I know it's only $40 .. but I would hate knowing there's a better deal out there!

Has anyone used this code? had any problems?

Found the same thing for March-intermediate for 2 days-base rate $45? Closest I've gotten to that is $79 with Alamo.

I booked it-we do have an Amex card but am intending to use my Visa card.

Took it no problems-didn't say anything about expiry.

I have a full size reserved from 12/24-28 using Am Ex and my total is 157..taxes incl......I was quite pleased for the Holiday, I was getting HORRIBLE quotes. And the best part is I can get it at the Nat'l desk at the Dolphin!

We are looking to rent 2/16-2/25 and the rate using that code was wonderful.... too wonderful. We own a amex optima card that we rarely ever use (it's a backup). Do you think we will have any problems?

I used the Am-ex contract code in early October, it was the best one I could find. I have an Am-ex card, but did not use it to pay the bill and was not asked to show it when I went thru check-out or when the car was returned.

I have used that Amex code 2 or 3 times....never asked to show anything....and although I do have the Amex card I have nor used it to pay for any of the rentals....as long as your MIL has the card to show just in case someone asks (unlikely) she does not have to be the driver...we often rent when travelling with my mother and she never drives, but she always pays (gotta love her!!)....we just put it on her CC and no one ever asks any questions.
