AMEX is denying the $50 bonus on PASS card!

Not going to enter into the discussion on earnings and such... I have not recieved an email about receiving or not receiving a bouns. I honestly have no idea if I got a mailing or not, since I never look at that stuff. It all goes right in the trash. However, I knew there was this possiblity when I ordered the card, so I'm not upset either way. I am going to go ahead and reload my card, since I like the idea of using this instead of carrying around a bunch of cash. We already have a debit card through our bank, but we each receive spending money, so I'd like to have that in a seperate account. I guess i'll just wait and see.

Me too. I signed up for it hoping for the bonus but I totally understand if I don't get it. I had planned on getting dd some thing like a pre-paid Visa gift card, but I think she'll like this better because the PASS card is her personal card. Dh has an Am. Ex card and could have gotten the mailing, but I throw out anything that looks like junk mail so we'll just wait and see. I haven't gotten the email yet, but I won't be surprsied when/if I do.
I also saw on other sites where people were making up kids and then calling customer service reps claiming the forgot their child's birthday and couldn't sign into their accts (because they couldn't remember the birthdate they made up when they signed up for teh card). I assume AE probably would have honored the code but they probably got so many new accts and then on top of that realized alot of them were trying to scam them so they are going to enforce their policy about only for those who got the mailing.

I just hope someone reminds me to cancel the card once it balance has been exhausted. I doubt I'll remember a whole year from now when they start charging a monthly fee. That's what they are counting on, dimwits like me!

I put a reminder in my outlook but won't need it probably since I spent them today and will cancel soon LOL.

Do they still charge the monthly fee if the card has no balance? Like you spend it all now but forget to cancel before next October - the card is still active, so I assume they start taking $3.95 a month from your bank account or Amex card anyway (even though card balance is zero). You have to actually go in and deactivate the card or account to avoid the fee altogether, right?

It appears that they bypass the card balance completely and will reach right into your bank account for the fee...so regardless of the balance on the card, if you do not cancel it they will take the fee right from your bank account.

That's different than what I thought initially, that they would take it from the card.

The initial $25 was taken out of my account today so I guess I will get the card. I never have received an email so I am hoping they will honor the bonus. Either way it will be a nice gift for DD.

Today I did my 3 $25 loads after my 3 cards were activated.
Just got an email that I am not getting the $50 bonus as the offer is non transferable and intended for the recipient of offer

Anyone else get this? Any way around it?

I reloaded on Monday and have not received an email Don't know if I'll get the bonus or not.

Drat I got my cards today. 2 of them in my name. I thought I understood from here that I could have 3. Ya well I can be in charge of 3 but only 1 can be in my name :-(...they are cancelling one of mine. I do get the 50 bonus when I reload. I did confirm that. But I had received a mailing with a 25 bonus but used the pass50 bonus instead. I could order one in DH's name, but sometimes it's not worth the hassle when it comes to cancelling and questions. They will only talk to DH and he can be uncooperative with me in these kinds of things. Guess I'll just take my 50 bonus and be grateful.

Bought the card originally on Oct 21, reloaded on Nov 4th. Extra $50 appeared on Dec 5th. So maybe it takes 30 days from reload.

OMG, I got an e-mail that mine would not be given the $50, but I just looked and both of my kids cards now have $50 on them!! I hope I didn't shred the cards!

Yay! Got mine too! I never got the email saying I wasn't getting it, but I didn't get the mailing so I wasn't expecting the $$! What a nice surprise!
