Amerihost

Has anyone ever stayed at the Amerihost outside Disney World on 192 Irlo Bronson Hwy?
We are possibly going to be staying there for a few nights prior to our Poly stay and were just wondering how it is!

Do NOT go there!
There was a smell of cleaning fluid or something the whole time we were ther last Easter(2002). The smell actually reminded me of the formaldihyde we used in Anatamy class in college to preserve the ...

Our room was an "inside" room which meant that the "window" overlooked an indoor pool. We spent absolutely the least amount of time there as possible. Lucky for us my Mom and my in-laws were staying at the Radisson Resort Pkwy. that I booked for them. Should have booked for me too, but we were on a "deal". NOT!!

I have stayed in a rang of places and to me this was the most uncomfortable--no windo to the outside world and that smell were just horrible. The little contact I had w/the staff was fine-they were nice. I am sure you can get a great rate through these boards or expedia anywhre else. The Radisson Parkway resort was very nice and reasonably priced and had a nice buffet breakfast as well as a deli and a great pool area. The pool at the Amerihost was in the back parking lot.


Normally I would say people have different preferences but I would neither recommend nor stay at this place, especially when there are soo many other options in the area.
Feel free to e-mail me, but I guess I ahve let you know my feelings about the place--nothing held back here!!

Thank goodness we were there for 2 nights before we moved on to our next destination. I do not know what rate you got, but the Comfort Inns we stayed at driving to and from Fla. from NY were better than the Amerihost place.

I think I stayed there 2 years ago....the name then was the Diplomat. I agree with the other poster...it was not pleasant. There was definately a smell and when we were there the air conditioner broke and wasn't fixed for 2 days. We were there in May. The room was not neccessarily dirty but it was musty. We also were overlooking the indoor pool but my parents were overlooking the outdoor pool and parking lot. Not a great experience but we just didn't spend much time there.

We are going again this December but we are staying at HIFS.

Thanks for the warning! We don't know where we are going to be staying, and probably won't know for sure until about a month before we go. My Aunt agreed to a timeshare package thing over the phone, so we get 3 nights at an orlando area hotel....and they said that the Amerhost was one of the three places we will be at. We are taking advantage of this prior to our REAL Land/Sea package. If we end up with the Amerhost and it stinks (literally from the sounds of it) At least it's free! (not like we will be spending much actual time there!)
I will "keep my fingers crossed" that we get somewhere else!!!

That is how we ended up there-a timeshare offer. It was a split trip-a few days in WDW and a few at the beach(Ft. Lauderdale or Palm Bch.).

I ended up not even doing the timeshare tour. They said "you won't get your park tickets". I said, "I don't need them." I really wanted absolutly nothing to w/ anyplace that would book me at a hotel like the Amerihost.
The second part of the trip was at The Radisson Palm Beach Shores north of Palm Beach. It was much better, but still had some faults. In the end we did not do the tour there either because they had overbooked the tours and we could not be accomadated. I am sure they could tell from my demeanor that I would not be purchasing.

See if they can upgrade you to a reputable hotel. Who is the timeshare tour sponsor?
