These kind of statistics should always be taken with a grain of salt.

These are REPORTED crimes. Not all crimes are reported or reported as the crime they originated as.

When I did public service at a radio station in NY we were told that the statistics are skewed by changing the specifics of a crime to keep tourist traffic up. I see they're STILL doing that.

I would've assumed neighborhoods within certain cities would be grouped together... Not five neighborhoods around Atlanta listed seperatly.

Surprised Miami didn't show up on the list once. But that's more like a whole city rather than just a neighborhood.

But pretty much any city will have that borderline neighborhood. More populated, the percentage gets lower, making it seem "safer".

I would personally put opa locka, fl on there, the cops refuse to go into certain sections if guns are present. They've lost many cops inside the triangle.

NeighborhoodScout.com takes crime data from the FBI and from all 17,000 local law enforcement agencies in the U.S., and sorts it to pinpoint events to the 61,000 neighborhoods in America, based on ZIP code. It then sells that data to individuals looking to buy a home.

Crime statistics are always interesting to me.

Their point is to draw attention to where the police are losing ground and where more law enforcement resources need to be devoted. I'm sure the criminals dislike the spotlight as much as the good people who are forced to live with them welcome it.

It is interesting, but the definition of a neighborhood in this article is weird. The two in Cleveland are a couple blocks apart. Shouldn't those be the same neighborhood?

When I get lost leaving the capitol area of DC, I always end up right by that bad neighborhood. Always.

How come Miami wasn't mentioned? We have murders here EVERYDAY! A Female Corrections officer was just stabbed over 20 times in front of her OWN home. My DS lives in the zip code that is mentioned in Orlando.

I think nearly every major city has it's areas that you wouldn't want to drive through especially at night, but for every bad part of town there are many of great areas of town. I live in the suburbs of Charlotte and am not surprised about the area it mentioned. I wouldn't want to get lost there, but I feel safe everywhere else in town.

For those of you who live close to these areas... are you scared to live there? I live in a very low crime area and the 1 in 4 chance of it happening to "you" scares me to death.. wow...
