America's Next Top Model - Cycle 12

Just watched it. Sigh. I dunno, it was just sort of, anticlimactic.

D'you know what the BEST part of the whole show was for me? The commercial that talked about how well Fatima was doing and how she's working like crazy. I LOVED Fatima, bad attitude and all, and my kids were like, are you crazy, mom? But I KNEW that girl would work like crazy, and it feels good to know outside the crazy ANTM universe, she's successful.

And I'm ashamed to admit I'm still totally looking forward to next season.

You know what I'd like to see? ANTM: Fan Favorites, where we get to vote on who we think should be there at the start...

And a few industry judges not under the thumb of Tyra for judging that one.

I'd say Katarazhyna, Fatima, jeez, I'd have to do more research because I have strong memories of beautiful girls being completely robbed...

I'm sad today because of ANTM... i have always really liked tyra banks..but each year it's gotten more and more about tyra than the modeling competition. It was hard to watch the opening of the show because it is primarily about tyra not the contestants.

I felt it was clear that Fo and Allison were top contenders. But inside i knew tyra had an agenda that she played out last night.

And then to find out that Paulina has been "cut" from the show. It's disappointing. Why do all the women judges end up leaving? Because tyra can't handle any attention not being focused on her.

I liked Paulina.

I don't know... i love this show but i'm just not liking being a willing viewer participant to tyra's ego.

Teyona won because it was time for a black girl to win, and she has a big forehead like Tyra. The winners are picked out in advance. If she had done that weave thing anywhere else in the competition, the judges would have been all over her.

I was telling my DS that Teyona has a sixhead. I had a friend years ago who had what we called a "fivehead" or sometimes, we'd call it a "mile-high forehead". Teyona definitely has a sixhead...we even paused the screen to measure it.

Oh and that whole swinging of the weave? Ridiculous. Or as Aminat would say redonkulous.

ETA: Oh and how about Paulina getting fired on her birthday and on the phone. Sheesh Tyra!

Not to be cruel, but it always appeared to me that Teyona had some sort of birth defect that caused her hairline to be super-high. I guess it's good that she has the self confidence to let it show. Everyone I know would have been growing bangs to hide it.

I've always wondered about McKey's mouth and how she kinda talks out of the side of it.

I dunno...it seems like a lot of successful models are not very attractive at all without makeup in their everyday lives...actresses too...so I guess if they can do it, why not? (wish I could do the "shrug" smiley but I can't)

I agree! Vote on favorite non-winner contestants from previous cycles, and have a NEW competition. Or at least, vote on who we think the best contestant in ANTM history was (who didn't win). I'm very fond of Kahlen (cycle 4) myself.

Tyra looks a little on the heavy side. Would she qualify for a plus size model now?

Maybe there should be a plus size only season. I'd still like to see a male only one.

Could it be that Paulina was axed because she liked Allison better and let them all know it?

Janice Dickinson lasted cycles 1-4.

Twiggy lasted cycles 5-9.

Paulina lasted 10-12.

Yeah, but some girls would be a LOT older! Like Mollie Sue, who is very well liked from Cycle 6, is now 28 or 29. That's not gonna work! Even the 18 year olds from Cycle 1 would now be 24. Some girls have gained/lost weight or aged a lot in the face.

I don't know if it was bad editing or what, but McKey had zero personality last night. Everyone at my house also thought her walk in the fashion show was horrible! She was slouching over and she walked very heavily. She has a beautiful face, but I still can't believe she won last cycle.

Well, you have to give Paulina Porizkova credit for being open about the reason for her dismissal from 'America's Next Top Model.' Clearly, she isn't going the "I wanted to pursue other opportunities" route. Paulina told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush she was fired over what producers called an "ego problem."

'I must admit I was having a little bit of an issue with Tyra [Banks] being late for every judging,' she told Billy. 'It’s six hours later and I feel like I am being told my time is not as valuable as hers. They pointed out that I should shut up and be grateful for the job and that Tyra is really busy.'

'I think that my little hissy fits about 'Well, we are all here on time. Why can’t she (Tyra)?' didn’t go over all that well,' added Paulina, who replaced the previous judge, supermodel Twiggy."

Paulina denied that her dismissal was in any way related to being the only other female judge.

'I don’t think that in Tyra’s universe that’s even a consideration. I don’t think she cares,' she said. 'I’m not even sure she was aware that I existed way out there in Siberia, much like I am not sure she knew Twiggy existed.'

'I wouldn’t know [what kind of person Tyra is] because all I know of her is literally when we are on set talking to each other in front of the cameras,' the supermodel said. 'That is the only time she would speak to me.' "

They've always gotta cast the one who they know will stir up plently of drama to boost ratings!

Renee, well, who knows. Still, I'd like to see some previous contestants come back for a second chance!
