American miles & paid fare = can anyone tell me if it matter which 1 is my ticket / 2 year olds

I am going with my 2 year old daughter and will be booking 1 trip with miles and 1 paid

i know I should book mine 1st because you can not buy a 2 year old a ticket without the adult attached online

does it matter if I am the rewards ticket or paid ? Any benefits to either ?

I booked with delta, one paid ticket and 2 rewards tickets. I called to book. The rep suggested I book mine as the paid ticket so I would earn miles.

makes sense for me to be the paid fare so i earn miles.
