He just referenced how this was bittersweet because of how much things have changed for him in the past 10 months. I may not like Danny's singing style, but I never thought he was pimping out the memory of his wife for votes. It is a part of why he's there, to not mention it in the homecoming would be odd. He seems like a nice, genuine guy.
