.. and I'm really scared of heights, so be kind to me, ok?
I actually voted for the first time this week. And I (long over being a teeny-bopper) voted twice for Carmen. While I don't believe she did well (ok, it really WAS dreadful), I voted for her because IMO, unlike Kim C., she has POTENTIAL. Kim C just can't sing more than 1/2 an octave!! She's already reached her peak and frankly it's not good enough. Carmen, however, has potential.
I actually liked her the week Olivia Newton John was there and she sang the Gloria Estefan song. That's a tough song and she sang it well with spunk and you could understand the words. She also stood out that week in the group's number with the way she moved and had stage presence. Unfortunately, I haven't seen her live up to that potential since then, but I wanted to see if she could regain it next week.
If Kim C. wasn't so bad EVERY week with all her years of Beauty pageant and Branson experience, I'd have agreed that Carmen had to go. But, frankly, when Kim's got all the training, experience, age, and (Simon's favorite) package and she STILL can't pull it off, she needed to go. She did not stand a chance of "pulling it off" next week, whereas, IMO, Carmen has at least a chance to come up strong. But, I'm afraid this week will be her LAST chance to shine.
So, Potential is why I voted for Carmen, not Pity.
PS. Those who don't like her voice are probably not Dixie Chicks fans either. She has a strong, country voice similar to Natalie Maines, who (aside from her political views) has been a big factor in sky-rocketing the Chicks to fame and fortune.
