Ok, I love Ellen (Stupid Energy!) but I am not thrilled with this. I think for a show like AI where the winner gets a recording contract that the judges giving the criticism should have some background in music.

Here is her comment on being hired. Ellen recognizes that she does not have the technical expertise of the other judges, but will be offering more of a fan perspective, which could be a refreshing change.
