My DD8 and I are taking a bus trip to NYC American Girl:cool1:! The trip is at the end of April. My DH is so nice to suggest we do this (thru where he works - as a consultant but the trip is open to us).

We will arrive in NYC around 10:30am. Lunch at AG is at 2:30pm. We will leave NYC at 7PM.

I do not want to shop at AG all that time. Can anyone give me some suggestions to do close by to help fill in the time?

Our first trip there was about 2 years ago but that trip included now closed stage show in the store and we left NYC at 5. We spend most of the time looking around the store. So much to see! We did walk to see the Catherdal.

Thanks to all that reply.

I'm trying to remember our trip 2 years ago. We stayed at NY Palace across from St Patrick's. I know we walked to American Girl Place. We also walked to Rockefeller Center and went to the Top of the Rock. There is a huge couple story Hallmark on the corner across from St Patricks. My dd loved that store.....LOL. Of course Saks, but we didn't go in as I don't enjoy shopping. I'll keep thinking and see if dd can remmeber anything when I talk to her later. She knows all the girl stuff I'm sure that your dd would love.

I thought the World of Disney closed?? I am hoping I am wrong...

WOD is closed in nyc with plans to open a "disney" store near times square later in the year.

As for other stuff to do - my daughter just loved walking around. Popping into whatever store she wanted to - like Dylan's which is a bit of a haul - it's near Bloomingdales which my dd loved too. (she's a fashionista though)

When leaving the AG Store, head straight down 49th towards Rockefeller Ctr
and head up to the Top of the Rock...then continue down 49th to the many shops in Times Sq, Bryant Park and the NY Public Library
OR
Take a right down 5th ave when you exit the store. You'll have a about a 15 minute walk to the Central Park Zoo or just walk around Central Park.
OR
Am Museum of Natural History or Met Museum of Art (both are suggested donation only)

Top of the Rock is right there and easy to get to. Plus it has the best views in the city.

Build a Bear is only a few blocks down 5th.

And next to MOMA is the American Folk Art Musuem. It's like a little hidden gem with about 10 % of the MOMA crowds. :lmao:

I've done the Titanic exhibit, it takes only an hour or 2. I think all depends on what type of day it is and what your budget is.

Plus FAO is only a few blocks up from American Girl.

OO and see when the Radio City Spring Show is. If the timing is right, that's another option.

The Toys R Us in Time Square could fill hours. There is even a ferris wheel inside. It is a must see every time we head into the city.

After American Girl we walked to FAO Shwartz Toy store and then we took a carraige ride in Central Park and then we hung out at Central Park for hours. It was beautiful. Have Fun!:cutie:

Just got back today.....it was wonderful despite the blizzard!

In Time Square, our favs were Toys'R'Us, Hershey and they loved the M & M's store....spent a lot of time in there.

Visited Rockefeller Center twice....and there is a NintendoWorld store right around the corner.

And on 5th Ave, there is a Little MissMatched store right next to the Build-A-Bear.

And FAO Schwarz and the cool Apple store are right at the entrance to Central Park......which was so beautiful with all the snow which you hopefully won't have.

Hope you have a great time--
