:lmao:

My oldest daughter is a big American Girl doll fan, but she has decided she doesn't need anymore. She's 10 years old, and she loves the ones she has, but she knows when enough is enough. She has three. One was a hand-me-down, one was a gift from her grandmother, and one she bought for herself with money she saved up. So I've never even bought her one (although I have bought plenty of accessories/outfits, etc.).

So then, today the doll of the year comes out. Wouldn't you know it, the doll has my daughter's name! AND, she looks exactly like her! Curly blonde hair, side-swept bangs, hazel eyes, and a green and blue striped dress identical to one my daughter has!

So now my girl is dying for this doll. :rotfl: I'm looking for cameras in my house. Thanks a lot, American Girl! ;)

And to push the knife in a little deeper, there is no free ship code. :sad2: They are killing us!

That would be my luck! They are beautiful dolls, aren't they? My soon to be 12 dd surprisingly put an American Doll on her Christmas list this year. I thought we were past them! She didn't get one though.:)

DD doesn't have any 'Girls of the Year' but she has several AG dolls. Lanie sure is a cute one! I love the camper!

I love the camper too! But only a cool $295 *cough, cough*.
They always have to have one OH so cool item that is untouchable! :upsidedow

I'm sure the company does lots of market research as to what appeals to young girls to keep them wanting the dolls even when they get to the point of that they think they have enough... (gee, sound familiar??::MickeyMo)

Yes!! Good grief! If it wasn't for Disney World and American Girl, I could quit my job!

Adorable!

My son and his girlfriend are "models" for adult characters in an upcoming American Girl book featuring a new doll in 2011. Their friend is the illustrator for a few of the upcoming books-a project she has been working on for over a year!
From what they tell me(its super "hush=hush") -its a Western theme book/Doll
:thumbsup2

hahahaha I'm 21 and I still cant stop buying them :rolleyes1

Now I mostly collect the dolls/clothes/accessories when I see them at garage sales and stuff for my future children (and with my luck i'll have all boy babies :rotfl: )

Lanie is a cute doll! I wish I had the $$ to buy her!

Ah, tell me about it! My dd9 just got her second doll for Christmas and a few days later her catalog arrived and of course she fell in love with Lanie. She has a plan to save her allowance and thinks she'll have her by April. I'm pretty okay with it though because she is growing up so fast- most of her other Christmas gifts were clothes, nail polish, and money she spent on more clothes. The fact that they entice her to still want to play with dolls makes me love the American Girl company. :)

Maybe to replace Kirsten, who was retired this past year. She was always my favorite and my first AG when I was seven.

I'm anxious to see what they come out with.

That's a lovely idea.:goodvibes I'm 21 as well and adored everything American Girl, but Samantha and Molly were my favorites. I've saved everything I have too!

Whoa whoa whoa. Hold the phone. Kirsten is RETIRED?

Boy, does that make me feel old. Where's the creaking-bones smiley?

I had so many of the things and dolls and kept playing with them until I was 12.

I'm 21 now and my mom got me Rebecca for Christmas. I asked for her...she is just so pretty I really wanted her. I didn't even have much of a Chrismtas list this year, just Rebecca and a Snuggie.

I don't think I'll ever grow out of dolls or stuffed animals. I just like to collect.

I have kept everything too. But I've kept everything from my childhood. My mom doesn't care though because her mom got rid of a lot of her things and she's upset that she did. I just hope and pray I have a daughter I can give these beautiful things to.

I still haven't forgiven them for retiring Samantha.

She was my favorite :cloud9:

We were at the launch yesterday morning and yes, we came home with Lanie. They raffled off the full package to one of the first 100 girls there. Unfortunately we didn't get one.
We did get a nice goodie bag with a book, a poster, one of the magazines and a chocolate chip cookie!! (good cookie :rolleyes1). It was a lot of fun! We would go again next year. NYC is great at 8 a.m. the morning after. No one was out! :rotfl:
