American Girl doll: Does your girl have more than one?

The only ones I regret are that she also has the Bitty Baby and the Bitty Twins. Those were pretty much a waste of money in our household. DH's parents bought her Bitty Baby when she was 2. She has never shown much interest in it at all. She may have played with it a few times over the last almost 4 years. They bought her the Bitty Twins for her 3rd birthday. The twins have received a llittle bit of playtime, but not a whole lot. Really from the time she was 2 (got an 18 inch non AG from Santa that year), her interest has been pretty much solely with the 18 inch "older" dolls.

Interesting - We got a Bitty Baby at a yard sale, and my DD (who was 3 in October) loves the doll but she has also lately taken to writing on things, and unfortunately she wrote on the BB's face. She noticed the AG catalogue and has been asking for Bitty Twins, which we were thinking of getting her for her 4th birthday (assuming she is past her scribbling stage, which she should be!) Now I'm wondering if that's a good course of action...she does go through stages of carrying "my baby" everywhere and changing its outfits but not to that extent. Hmmm...

Forgot to mention that I want to get Rebecca for myself! LOL I may not let DD touch her whenever I do. (Rebecca has my heritage, and before I was married I had the same last name she does).

OP, my DD has FOURTEEN (yes, you read that right, lol) AG dolls, and she loves them dearly. unfortunately, she's recently decided that she's too old for them, so we've put them in storage, along with their clothes and the doll beds and armoires my DH made for them. but she still looked at the AG Christmas catalog with a gleam in her eye, and she considered asking her DGGM for another one. don't regret buying any of it.

Somehow in a matter of months, we have ended up with 4 (and Kanani will be a Christmas gift). The first two I got in a great priced lot on Ebay. I found Nicki in another Ebay lot and was intending to keep some of the clothing from the lot and sell the rest. But so far we still have Nicki. DD got a new Julie as a birthday gift in November from relatives. She still wants a doll that looks like her so she can play w/ her on-line. She's also eyeing Felicity and Elizabeth. I can definitely see how this can turn into an addiction! DD is only 5 so we have years of play ahead. So far she plays w/ them almost daily with my help (styling and changing their outfits). So far they are a hit and I like the fact (something someone else on this board mentioned) that in good condition things can be re-sold for about 75% of purchase price.

My DD who will be 9 next month has 3. She got Kit maybe 3 years ago for Christmas and insisted Kit was lonely and needed her bff Ruthie, so she came the following Christmas. That was going to be it, but she used her birthday money last year to buy a Just Like Me doll. So far she hasn't mentioned wanting any more, I think she's happy with those three. However, she doesn't pass up an opportunity to get more clothes or accessories for the dolls. She dresses them and plays with them all the time, money well spent.

eta: DD is going to a friend's AG birthday party/sleepover tomorrow night. They are all taking their dolls and she is so excited!

No, the rule in my house was one doll per daughter, three daughters later the youngest now has three dolls....LOL. IMO and it's only MO they are just too expensive to have so many for something that is really going to be played with.

DD is getting her first for Christmas, but she has been saving her $ for months now to get a different one, so I am guessing we'll be up to 2 by March at the latest (when she has earned enough $). I don't think we'll ever get up to lots of them, as they are just so expensive, but I KNOW she is going to spend hours playing with it, so it is pretty good bang for the buck. Plus, as other posters mentioned, they have great resale value later.

I have three girls, and we have 4 dolls between them right now (not bad right).
Except....santa is bringing them each a new one.
But, they play with them all the time.
we have lanies trailer, and kits treehouse. I did not get kaninis ice cream stand, although it was requested. But, my girls love their dolls. They play with them all the time, and while its money, I would rather spend the money to keep them playing with dolls as long as possible.

We have one daughter, age 8, and she has two AG dolls. One is a just like me doll, and the other one is Kanani. I can't see us buying her any more. 2 is plenty for 1 girl.

My daughter has 5 - Felicity, Lanie, Julie, Chrissa & Kanani.

I think it's a bit much. I thought 2 was fine.

My MIL bought her Julie for a gift several years ago, and DD wasn't into the dolls at all at the time.

Then DD got interested, and my MIL got her Chrissa.

We took DD to the NYC American Girl Cafe for a birthday gift, and we (me and the 2 grandmas) split the cost of Lanie for her.

My MIL has since bought her the other 2 dolls.

It used to really REALLY bother me that my MIL kept buying her the dolls, but I got over it. My MIL thinks it's her "special" thing to buy DD. And DD (10 1/2 years old) still loves her dolls.

My mother sews clothes for the dolls (which are nicer than the AG ones - IMHO) and is teaching my DD to sew too.

So it's all good - even though I joke that we almost have a mortgage-payment's worth of dolls!
