All along I thought I would only allow my girls to get ONE AG doll. However, my dd8 loves everything to do with Asian culture and I KNOW she would be so surprised and happy to get the Ivy doll. Right now she has a just like me AG doll.

Anyone buy their girls more than one AG doll, and if so, regrets because of the cost?

Thank you!

My daughter has 2. We bought her the first one for Christmas...a just like me one. The following year she wanted another with a totally different look. I told her to ask everyone for $$ for her birthday and she did....and bought it herself. She does play with both of them...WHEN she plays with them. She's trying to hit me up for another this year, "Just one more." I'm thinking 2 is plenty!!

My dds each have 2. They each one of the historic dolls and one of the dolls of the year. One has Kirstin and Mia and the other Felicity and Chrissa. Younger dd is also getting Julie for Christmas - she wanted her and we didn't have anything "better" to get her so she will end up with 3.

DD is getting her first (non-bitty baby) this xmas. I think i would get her another one if she shows she is playing with her and taking care of her. I also like the idea of her saving her money to buy her own. Brilliant!

My dd has several (5 I think-largely from a generous Aunt). She loves and plays with each one. She cracks me up with how "Kit likes this, but not that and Lanie willl only wear ......"

She has said for 2 years she did not need anymore dolls, but changed her mind this year and will find that wish under the tree;).

I have no regrets because she plays with everything she has. I have found several items on sale and on ebay which has helped on the cost a lot.

My dd has 6 dolls, 2 just like yous, Chrissa, Kanani, Julie & Felicity. She plays with them all the time.

My DD also has several but we didn't pay full price for all of them. Her 1st I got on ebay - it's a just like me and was in great shape, I think I paid $50 which is 1/2 the store cost! Then she asked for Lanie from Santa last year. I said 2 was enough but for her birthday she wanted another one. She bought Julie with her own birthday money (gave up a big party to use the money on that plus asked for money as gifts). This summer I stumbled on a garage sale that had 5 girls all priced under $30. Amazing - so Hazel joined the group (another just like me) and Ivy because my younger DD's 1st doll.

That was it - that's enough girls in our house....and then...she asked Santa for Kanani.....

But, like the last post, she plays with them constantly - she'd rather have another girl than accessories or clothes.

My daughter has two - Felicity & Elizabeth (though she plays with Elizabeth more as her name is Elizabeth) - and I think its great she has two - we can play together or she can play with a playmate - also its fun to watch her interact the two together - tea Parties, School etc.... If your daughter loves it I would say why not! I would rather my daughter have something she loves then something that is just ok... :)

DD5 has one doll Josefina, but we bought her used last year. I didn't want to spend the money if she wasn't going to play with it, etc....Turns out she loves this doll and has now asked for a friend for her. Because the doll she has was used and her hair isn't that easy for DD to brush I'm ok with her having 2. At some point I'll send Josefina in for a new head because the hair is just too far gone. I think how many dolls a kid has depends on the kid. If they really play with them a lot and you or someone else has the money to spend it's a good investment. Personally I think 2 is a good number, but if DD continues playing with her doll and whichever friend we decide to get for her I won't have a problem buying her another one at some point if that's what she wants.

DD has 3, none of which I purchased. MIL had 3 boys so she LOVES buying AG. She has a just like me, Kit, and Marie-Grace. She will be getting a LOT of accessories for Marie-Grace from MIL for christmas.

DD1 has 3 AG dolls and a my twinn, DD2 has Kit, bitty twins & a bitty baby, and is getting Julie and Kanani this year.

I don't regret having several of them as they are played with all the time. I'd rather buy an AG than more polly pockets or squinkies to be left all over the floor....

If your daughter really loves her AG doll and would still be into them in a few years, then why not. My girls each have one, and at ages almost 11 and almost 8, they hardly even play w/ them. I never bought any of the clothes or accessories, I left that to their grandmother who has plenty of money for that. :rotfl: A few times I let them get an accessory thing (pizza party set or something) w/ birthday money or something, and saw it laying all over the floor and I was flipped out. They still don't understand how expensive that stuff is. More expensive than a real pizza party! So thankfully, I think my girls are done w/ theirs. I will definitely be keeping the dolls and all of that stuff, so they can give it to their kids.

Between my two girls, we have... a lot. :rolleyes1 I haven't counted recently, but it is definitely well into the double digits. I have no regrets. :)

They are always at the top of DD's (5) Christmas and Birthday lists, so she has 3 now and after February, she will have 7. She got Felicity for Christmas from Santa 2 years ago when she was 3- it was the No. 1 item on her Christmas list starting in June of that year and she never changed. That doll was all she talked about for months and she would show everyone who would pay attention to her the picture in the catalog...repeatedly (For you parents out there- if you are buying AG presents for a niece etc. and don't want your younger girls to know about AG until they are older- HIDE THE CATALOG. Not doing that was my big mistake. :lmao:). There was no way I was going to let Santa show up without that doll that year. It was the only thing she really wanted for Christmas.

She got Elizabeth for Christmas from her Grandma last year (She hit Santa up for a Disney Princess and Me doll instead). She got Lanie from us for her February Birthday. This year Molly is at the top of her Santa list, and I'm pretty sure Santa is going to indulge her. Kanani was at the top of her birthday list so DH and I have her put away. Then she was also saying she wanted Marie Grace and Cecile from the time they came out and when they went on 25% off last month (a pretty much unheard of sale for AG), I caved and gave into letting my Mom get her one for her birthday and DH's Mom and Dad get her the other for her birthday.

I have no regrets because really the AG dolls and the Disney Princess and Me dolls are pretty much all she ever plays with (Barbies and Princess Barbies get some playtime too, but usually only when they come to parties with the AG and P&Me dolls). The dolls have gotten playtime every day since she first got Felicity when she was 3. She could sit and dress and undress them and have parties with them all day. There was a time when we had to put pajamas on each one and put them to bed every single night. Thankfully, she finally gave up on that one.

The only ones I regret are that she also has the Bitty Baby and the Bitty Twins. Those were pretty much a waste of money in our household. DH's parents bought her Bitty Baby when she was 2. She has never shown much interest in it at all. She may have played with it a few times over the last almost 4 years. They bought her the Bitty Twins for her 3rd birthday. The twins have received a llittle bit of playtime, but not a whole lot. Really from the time she was 2 (got an 18 inch non AG from Santa that year), her interest has been pretty much solely with the 18 inch "older" dolls.

We have several in our household...and I thought I was done but I'm not!!

dd12 has 2 : Addie and Ivy
dd10: bitty twins, Josefina and Sonali and she will get Cecile this Xmas.

We would have been done but then Marie-Grace and Cecile came out and she had to have Cecile. My family is Louisiana French Creole so how could I not (at least that is what I will tell DH when he sees another AG doll!!! Haven't told him yet!:rotfl2:)

YDD has 7 plus a bitty baby. She got her Bitty Baby when she was 3 and she loved on her for years. She got Kit a couple Christmases ago and then a Just like Me doll the next Christmas and got Kanani for her 8th b-day. She just also 'inherited' ODD's 4 dolls. I know that included Julie but I forget who the other ones are. I believe there is an 8th AG doll under our bed that the IL's sent to ODD a few years back but she wasn't interested in so it went in a box under our bed. I found it there this spring was I was cleaning and put it in a plastic box to keep it dust free but I have no idea what to do with it. YDD doesn't need anymore dolls and she's out of seats and stands for them anyway. LOL

My youngest DD loved her dolls. She had 2 Bitty babies, 2 sets of twin (boy/girl), and 4 american girl dolls. She loves them all and has always played with them. She really loved the babies/twins the best, but she always spent a lot of time with her dolls. It's sad now because they're all in rubbermaid boxes. She won't part with them, but won't sell them either.

(Although I did get her to see a bunch of clothes & accessories she no longer used at our last garage sale. She made a bundle from the new collector down the street)

My daughter gets 1 AG doll per Christmas. It's the only doll she puts on her Christmas list and the only dolls (Bitty, Felicity and Elizabeth) that she plays with. Kanani (can't remember the correct spelling) will be joining the family this year! I never regret the money as the amount of time she spends playing with them makes it worth it!

DD has 7. Karissa, Rebecca, Julie, Kit, Lainey, Elizabeth, Addy and Mia. She doesn't play with them a lot, but she does occasionally and loves them. She is 10 and this is the first Christmas she is not getting one (didn't ask). I view them as a quality, timeless toy that can be handed down to her children.
