I just bought Marie-Grace and wanted to know if it's necessary to buy the additional Crinoline and Chemise set. It look like it's necessary if you want the dress to stand away from the doll, but looks like it would be a nuisance if the doll is carried around.

I don't to give my niece an "incomplete" doll, but I don't want to spend another $25 if it's not absolutely necessary.

Thank you!!

It is not necessary. My DD got Marie-Grace last year for her birthday and we did not buy the additional items. The dress will still stand out enough.

The doll is absolutely beautiful by the way.

Whew! Thanks for answering!

This is my first American Girls purchase. Never had a little girl to buy for.

Nah I didn't get it either. If you really want it you can probably find a knock off on ebay. The dresses stand out enough and I know my DD would say this is itching Marie Grace and rip it off lol. She hates things that are "scratchy".

We have both Cecile and Marie Grace but only one Crinoline and Chemise set. While it is cute it really doesn't make much of a difference.

I doubt she will even notice/care. Our DD never has the 'underthings' on under her Felicity and Elizabeth. Granted they are flat cotton chamises, not crindoline, but she just doesn't even bother.
