American Girl clothes question

Do the girl clothes that can be bought that matches the doll outfits run big or small? My DD is right in the middle of the sizes. I am afraid that if I get the bigger size she won't be able to wear it, and if I go small, she may only be able to wear it a short time. Any advice?

I recently had this dilemma as I was ordering some matching PJs for my dd. The feedback that I received is that they run big. I even had someone with a dd of similar size send me a pic of her dd in the PJs and they still had to be cuffed at the wrist and ankles. My dd is 7y/o and wears a 7slim , so I ordered the size small. I hope that helps.
