American Girl - Bitty Twin question

I really think that my dd would love getting a Bitty Twin for Chirstmas. It is not in our budget but a family member has expressed interest in getting it for her.

The Bitty Twin would look like her - not interested in the Bitty Baby.

My question is if anyone knows if it is possible to purchase just ONE Bitty Twin? We don't need two dolls, just one girl.

I looked on ebay to see if anyone is selling just one and the few that are for sale on ebay are the older ones with shorter hair. If we're getting one we need the longer hair.

Any suggestions to help us get just one Bitty Twin?

I think you can only buy one Bitty Twin at the stores.

Maybe there's someone else on this board who is looking for only one twin who would be willing to split the set/cost with you?

I ahve done it at the AGP in NYC. It's how i eneded up with 3 Bitty 'twins' or as DD calls them the triplets.

I bought just one for my dd last xmas. I called the AG store in Chicago told them what I wanted and it was no problem at that time to order just the one.
I lived in NC so I of course had to pay shipping.

Yup, you should be able to call any of the American Girl Place stores and place an order over the phone. I am pretty sure they are about $45 each.

I was at AGPlace in NYC on Saturday and they were available for purchase for fifty something(I think 55 or 59). My sister bought my DD one in LA so it is possible there as well. If you purchase from the store, there is no tax unless you live in a state where there is a store. That kinda offsets shipping.

I wanted just the brown eye/hair doll for my daughter...during the last promotion I bought the twins, then put just one on ebay....in the end all I ended up paying for my doll was $26, which was amazing to me. Ironically the person who purchased my doll has now become a friend, and we plan on having the "twins" keep in touch. So you just never know!! LOL

I would call the catalog and ask. I was able to purchase the meet outfit for one of my DD's dolls (outfit she comes in, not for sale seperatly) when she lost it on vacation. I just called and asked and they said "No problem." The customer service at American Girl is incredible.

Thanks for the suggestion about calling. I hadn't thought of that. Last visit to AG store was about five years ago and I don't see a trip in the near future but it would be worth the phone call for sure. In the past I was always thrilled with the service at AG.

I had thought about getting the twins and going the ebay route but since it is a family member wanting to make the purchase it got a bit more complicated.

Does anyone know if any other places sell clothes that fit the American Girl dolls other than American Girl?? My Goddaughter has a couple (a set of Bitty Twins and Samantha) and all she wanted for her birthday was clothes for them. I couldn't believe how expensive the clothes were when I went to the website I don't mind splurging on stuff for her, but I couldn't get her as much as I would have liked. I was hoping for Christmas to find somewhere else I could get clothes that would fit any of the dolls and be able to get her more than one or two outfits.

Target has clothes that fit the AG dolls okay. The brand is "Our Generation". I've found that the shoes are not a good fit though. Lots of sellers on Ebay and Etsy sell clothes, and I've found some really cute dresses for my DD's dolls at local craft shows.

Do these fit the Bitty Twins dolls though since they are smaller than the regular AG dolls?

I bought one Bitty Twin last winter at the store in NYC. It was $55

The dolls are the same size, aside from leg length. So, in theory they should fit but would be a bit long. Dresses would probably be fine, and you could always roll the pant legs up. I know on Ebay I've seen things particularly for the Bittys though.

That is the cutest thing I have ever heard of! I think ebay is a good way to go too!

Man ... I didn't even think about getting just one. What a good idea! I wasn't sure where I was getting the price for two out of my Chrismas budget, but I wanted to get this for her.
