Has anyone here ever flown on American Airlines? We live in Hawaii and are heading to DL on November 30th-Dec9th and I have been looking on-line:surfweb: at all the different carriers and so far AA has the best rates.:woohoo:

My questions are,

1) Are they normal on time
2) Are the planes and seats comfortable :thumbsup2
3) And how is the service :)

If anyone can anwser these questions for me I would really appreciate it  , I can't make up my mind between 2 airlines and I have only rode on 1 of them so I am not sure if I should spend the extra money for comfort  or get the AA seats and save alot of money :yay: . If I could get some reveiws I'm sure it will help me make up my mind :upsidedow and I am runing out of time to make sure I get the dates and times I want:scared1: .

Thank You Zena Wright :flower3:

Well, I refuse to fly American because of customer service issues. I gate checked a brand new stroller, it was part of a very expensive travel system. When we landed, they brought to up to the gate and it was TRASHED, wheels wouldn't roll, seat was ripped; it looked like it had been run over.

They told me too bad, I signed away my rights when I gate checked it. I argued that I had a reasonable expectation that it would be handled with care, they did nothing; they didn't even offer to help me carry everything to baggage claim! I had to drag a broken stroller (to show to baggage claim), the baby in the baby seat, and my carryons all by myself to baggage claim (and waiting family), the people at baggage claim were even ruder and I was being very nice at that point.

I haven't flown American Airlines since and I was a loyal customer at that point.

As far as the seats go, pretty much depends on where you sit. Before choosing your flight, check the plane out at seatguru.com to find out if there are seats that shouldn't be chosen. A lot of the seats by the galley can be iffy depending, seats behind the mid-galley have a lot of room, the seats in front of the galley don't recline at all and you lose a few inches of leg room.

I haven't flown American, but if the other airline you're considering is Hawaiian, I can tell you that they're my favorite to fly. They still have actual meal service, three choices last time I flew, and they have Digiplayers for rent. It's like a pre-loaded DVD player. It comes with movies, TV shows, cartoons, music videos. It's so much more convenient than bringing a portable DVD for each kid. Plus the people who work for Hawaiian are the best!! Great customer service.

We're going again in January and are flying Northwest. They had a great price, plus I was able to buy a code off of eBay that allowed me to save $75 a ticket. I was a little worried about it, but it worked just fine. I paid $12 for the code and saved $75 when I booked the ticket. You have to get one code for every ticket.

I prefer Hawaiian Air, they were great when I flew with them. I also fly Southwest but I'm not sure if they go to Hawaii or not. Sorry, I'm really not much help.....LOL

Love Hawaiian and love Southwest. Frontier is also fabulous. Personally will not fly United or American due to past service issues (and I'm talking extreme issues.) Really depends on how large the ticket difference is, but usually they're all close.

Also, did you look into ATA? They usually have some of the best fares out of Hawaii. I personally haven't flown them, but I know a lot of people who have and I haven't heard any horror stories. We were going to fly them, but then found the great price on Northwest plus the coupon, plus I liked their flight times better. Good luck with your planning!!:wizard:

Mahalo (Thank You) everyone for your info. that really helps, yes the other carrier is Hawaiian and I always fly Hawaiian for all the same reasons you all said before. That really helped with my decision making.

Hi Zena,

Have you tried looking at Aloha Airlines? Not sure what their fare is like during the time you need air fares but they fly into the John Wayne Airport, which is much closer to Disneyland. We leave next Friday and I was able to get great fares on Hawaiian Airlines, but I booked our airfares back in March. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with Hawaiian Air. Good luck with your planning.
