The article I read said that they still plan to keep everything the same while they restructure. They are the only airline in the US that didn't file for bankruptcy after 9/11, Delta was the last one to file in 2005. I think they'll still be around after this is all over.
It's bankruptcy protection under chapter 11, not bankruptcy. This allows them to restructure the business without creditors shutting them down. They will emerge from this a stronger company, see Delta.

um, we have flights with them, arriving with Frontier Airlines, but for our return trip Frontier changed our flights significantly from 7:30 AM to 1:30pm, and not arriving at Seatac till 9 or 10pm with a 3 hr layover
so I phoned and said I didn't like the change.
It was their only flight to Seattle that day, so they changed me to American airlines, with times close to my orig. flight plan. I hope they will still be flying in Jan I think so. If not I have trip insurance with Visa and CAA!!
But buying air tickets and paying with Visa, I believe you are pretty well protected.
