I am having a hard time deciding between America West and Delta. I haven't flown anything besides Southwest for a long time so I can't remember anything about either airline. I don't want to wait for Southwest's fares and from what I have seen theur schedules don't look too good to me, I know I am being picky. Anyway both AW and Delta have non-stop red eye flights to MCO and the price difference is about $100 with AW being more expensive. The schedules are within minutes of each other so that doesn't matter but I do know that Delta is going through a lot of trouble right now which has me nervous. Also I have heard a lot of horror stories about Delta drastically changing schedules which concerns me because we will be going in Dec so that is a lot of time to jerk the schedules around.
So any opinions one way or the other, I know it is still early yet but I just keep seeing the fares going up so I want to try to get the tickets soon.
Thanks in advance.

Go with delta. People on here make it a bigger horror story then it is. Now that the final schdule is done with Song taken out, flights shouldn't change as much. Every airline I have flow has give me schdule changes once and a while. I just dont think paying 100 more is worth it to fly America West who technically is actually US Airways. Buy your tickets on Delta and enjoy your trip. In my opinion Delta really likes to take care of its customers and most importantly its loyal customers.

Good Luck,
Matt

Delta is in bankruptcy and is fighting with its pilots over wage concessions. The pilots are threatening to strike. Lots of court things going on right now.

AW recently merged with U S Air and is out of bankruptcy.

FWIW, I would not pick Delta if you aren't going until December - the worrying and stress is not worth the $100. I am also going in December and not picking NWA for the same reasons (bankruptcy and fighting with labor voer wage and benefit concessions) - NWA supposedly has a deal with its pilots, but some union leaders are recommending the pilots vote it down. The mechanics/ground workers already voted no on their "deal". Have to wait to see what the judge will do now and what happens after that.

Unless you are going over the busy Christmas holidays, I'd wait for a sale.

Best wishes -

I wouldnt worryt to much about. The whole threaten to strike thing is just a scare tatic. Personally I cant see the goverment letting them go under. They are our 2nd or 3rd biggest carrier. Good luck and I would go with Delta. We need to support a hurting airline not avoid them.. That doesnt help the economy any. will only hurt in the long run.

I purchased tix for December with Delta, I am not worried, most of the major carriers have been in bankruptcy in the last few years.

One thing I consider when schedules are similar is where the flights go. At that time of year I try to stick with flights that are in the southern corridor, major weather problems can create havoc at that time of year. I could have gotten American Airlines for slightly less money, with a layover/plane change in Chicago. I opted for Delta with the change in Atlanta. Weather problems can quickly affect all airports but I would rather be at the airport that is less likely to be affected directly.

Last year we booked with SW but I was too impatient to wait this year.

Just my thoughts......

I think I am going to go with Delta in early December too! I just don't know whether to order now or wait a while! Right now it is cheaper than when we flew with Delta last year, but I am not sure of dates yet or even whether DH will have vacation time...wish I knew what to do!
