Someone on my Facebook page mentioned this so I went and did it and it worked!

You can give your latest Amazon driver a $5 tip at no cost to you right now. Just type Thank my driver in the search field on Amazon. It was quick and easy.

I'm not sure if this is a limited time thing or what but check it out if you like your delivery person and want to give them a little tip at not cost to you.

 I'm confused - if you don't contribute the $5, where does it come from? And I guess this isn't an Amazon Canada thing. This is what I got when I searched: https://www.amazon.ca/HOW-CAN-TIP-A...452485&sprefix=thank+my+driver,aps,517&sr=8-1

I honestly don't know where the money comes from. I'll have to dig deeper to see. Must not be in Canada.

Here's what I see....

And when I click it, it goes here...

Are they really trying to sell a book on how to tip your driver?

Also maybe just type thank my driver without the word Amazon

I tried it and it just said they would thank my driver.

But I wasn't expecting anything since UPS & USPS is my delivery driver not Amazon.

I tried it just now and it worked... it was up near the very top of the page.

I know a couple people who have been Amazon delivery drivers, it is really a rough job from what I hear.

OK, sorry, why?

First, I don't think I've ever had the same delivery driver for Amazon, to say nothing about sometimes packages get delivered by UPS, FedEx, USPS.
Second, while it could be a tough job, it's still one they chose to do.
Third, this is more "tip creep".

It's a tip for your last Amazon driver, specifically. When I clicked it, it showed the picture from our most recent delivery. So it's for that person specifically.

It's just something for the holiday season and only for the first 2 million people.

No one is making you do it. It's just something nice that I thought some people might want to do.

The Amazon drivers at least put my packages on my back porch, out of the elements. We had a USPS driver leave two boxes out on the driveway in the pouring rain a couple weeks ago. One box contained tea and the other contained books.

I did it. Took 5 seconds and costs me nothing.

Amazon has had this program for a while now I can't use it because in my area all Amazon comes UPS or USPS but it is a really nice way of giving a little something extra to someone and it doesn't even cost you anything. Good job, Amazon

Sam, think of it this way.

Amazon would like to give a little bonus to their drivers who are out there making customers happy. But, they have no easy way of knowing which drivers are the ones who are actually the ones deserving. So, they are asking you, the customer to tell them and once notified, they give the driver a little bonus.

It is totally optional and costs you nothing but your Karma may be rewarded when the driver goes that extra mile for you one day. Maybe he makes sure to hide your package from porch pirates or something like that.

IMO, Amazon has it within their power to do this on their own. Simply add $5 to every paycheck for every delivery a driver makes in the month of December.

Does "Karma" have you tipping at counter service restaurants that has a tip jar?

If the only reason you're doing this is because it's not "your money", that's even worse. Heck, we won't really know if the driver even gets the money.

I think you misunderstood me.

Imagine you are Amazon and want to reward good employees like the ones who gently place the package on the porch or maybe give some sort of extra good service, sort of like a performance bonus. You don't want to give a bonus to the average driver who performs minimum job function (package gets there but that it is). You don't have the staff to drive around and check the work of the employees yourself so you as the customers to rate the service and you apply the bonus based on that.

But, honestly, how many random customer service surveys do we ignore every day. This program is win/win/win. Amazon gets a more diligent employee plus doesn't have to driver to every address to see who is and is not doing a great job, the customer gets the feel good rush from knowing they made someone and extra $5, and the driver wins by getting a bonus for a job well done.

In a similar program...did you know when you submit a Cast Member Compliment to Disney, the compliment gets entered into a weekly drawing and the winners get a small reward.

Tip the driver if you think they deserve it. If they are leaving packages in the rain or at the neighbors, don't.

Sam. They are doing it to incentivize and reward their drivers for providing good service at no cost to the customer. That should be obvious. Why are you turning this into something it isn't?
