I have just received my gift to myself. Do I cancel the membership I have now? And then just start a new one with my gift?

I didn't cancel my membership. When I woke up the day after my membership had expired, I used the links in the "gift membership" email and started Prime again. Didn't lose anything, same history, same email, etc. Just did it the day after expiration.

I hate to respond to an old thread, but Prime is on sale on Friday 9/25 for $67. We're on someone else's Prime so I have the option to "upgrade" for $99. Does anyone know if that will be $67 on Friday? We've never had full Prime ourselves but share with someone else's account. Thanks!

Well, if on Friday you don't see the option to upgrade for $99, couldn't you just signup for $67 on your own? What would the difference be?

It knows I already have a version of Prime and "upgrade" is the only option I get. I don't know how to remove myself from my friend's Prime. I'll find out tomorrow. I can always "chat" with them.

It wouldn't let me purchase today's sale price as a gift - it blocked the transaction because I was logged in and already had Prime. If anyone figures out how to do it, let me know.

Based on what I read, you'll lose that when you renew as well. We're on someone's shared benefits but figured we might as well do it now if we're going to get dropped when they renew anyway.

You can't share benefits anymore?

Now you can only share with 1 adult and you must share payment info too. But you can also add up to 4 children and they all share the streaming and other benefits. They're calling it "Household".

I read that someplace but then I read a lot more posts where people say it will likely happen when you renew. Maybe I made a mistake. I've been paying a co-worker $20 a year to share his account for years. We LOVE Prime and we really love the $1 no-rush credits. We had 5 months left on his account, but figured this savings was too much to pass up if we were going to have to pay $99 in February when we fell off his account. Oh well. It's too late to change anything now!
