Amazon Prime 2 Day Shipping ..MEANS 2 Days

Yes, the two day shipping part means two days from when it is boxed and turned over to the carrier. it is important to read when ordering if it may take 2-3 days to fulfill the order. We have had this happen to us as well.

Do you work for Amazon because this is the exact same line they like to give! ;)

I think most of us have enough Amazon experience to realize that 2 day Prime means whenever the hell they want versus what their website says. It will clearly state on their website, "Arrives by such and such date" and when it doesn't and ends up coming two, three, or four days later, Amazon will give the "it is two days after it is fulfilled" line. Yeah, NO! That isn't at all what it says when the order is placed. I've gone round and round with them, taken screen shots to prove it, and they simply don't care. I've learn to accept that while many things will indeed arrive in two days, it isn't at all unusual to have it take three or four.

No, but I have been burned by this myself many times. I feel bad for the OP, but the same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. It left their facility on a Wednesday and I received it on a Tuesday, even though it was supposed to arrive on Saturday.

Yeah, but at what point is it no longer Amazon's fault but is the shipper's fault? If it left their facility and they order UPS or FEDEX or whoever to get it to you and the shipper fails, then that's not really in their control. I think it *is* their fault when they don't fill the order for several days.

I'm not thrilled with Amazon this holiday shopping season either. I ordered an item and the next morning another retailer had it on sale for much cheaper. Amazon would let me cancel and wouldn't price match. They didn't even ship it until the next day. It made no sense. I just returned it. I even had to pay return shipping but the price was so much lower at the other store that I didn't care.

I feel you. I ordered a couple of things on Monday. Should have been here yest. I need one of them today...... Not here yet, but will be "by 8 pm". Family get together will be over by then and you guessed it, I need one of the items for that. Least someone say "You should have ordered earlier", I did, but the first item was not sufficient so I had to order a different one.

It sucks. I think it's just something that happens when we wait until this close to Christmas to order.

I had TRU cancel my order of in stock items a few days ago. They waited a week to inform me though.
I'm usually finished by Thanksgiving, but life happened...2 deaths in the family, sick (in the bed) for six days, DGKs had RVS and the dog died. :(

These were items, that could/should have been easily available locally, but I ran out of steam. Just haven't completely recovered from the funk, crud, whatever. I spent half a day looking for three similar iPod touch cases, before I ordered from Amazon. Guess, the DGKs won't be able to play with them , until next week. pirate:

There's really no excuse in taking two days to ship an order, that says, it will arrive in two days. IMO, it's just plain stupid to send it by USPS AND blame the delay on the shipping method. It's ridiculous to offer "arrive before Christmas" and blame the holidays for the late arrival.

Did your order state that it would arrive before Christmas?
Actually, it did. Although, I usually go by the actual promised delivery date. I was careful, not to order anything, that didn't have a specific arrival.

Sorry you aren't going to get your item before Christmas. Personally, I would not believe ANYONE who said I could order on Tuesday and have it on Thursday around holiday times. If you do, in fact, get it, consider it a major bonus. All shippers are extremely busy this time of year, and it's very, very difficult for them to get 100% of packages to their destinations on time if the total amount of time between the order and when you expect to receive it is less than 48 hours.

If a gift absolutely, positively HAS to be there in time for Christmas, and it's less than 48 hours, I'd suggest paying the upgrade for overnight shipping.

During the holiday shipping time frame I don't expect to get anything before christmas unless I ordered it by the second week of December, even when I order something prime. Even taking out the massive influx of packages being shipped, there have been multiple highway shut downs the last couple of weeks near me due to bad weather, as well as flight delays. If the trucks/planes are not getting through on time my packages probably won't either.

Now in the middle of summer, when there are no gift giving holidays and weather should not be an issue, it irritates me when prime shipping is more than two business days. I had a package not get delivered this summer even though it said it was out for delivery all day. When I checked my amazon account after 8 pm (the time it said it would be to me by) the status had been switched to back in the carrier facility. When I called Amazon they said UPS told them my address did not exist. I have been getting Amazon packages delivered to my address by UPS and Fedex 2-3 times a month ever since they started as a company, how in the world did my address all of a sudden disappear :headache:? Turns out my regular delivery guy was out that day and his fill in didn't feel like looking for my address. I hate when I see Amazon has used UPS ever since then.

I order dog food using Prime. Earlier this month I placed my order, and it said it would be delivered in 2 days.... Like it always does. It arrived a full week late. It sat at the UPS hub in Louisville for 3 days.... Never going out on a truck. I had to grab an emergency bag at the store after day 5 and had two dogs with upset stomachs..... I was NOT happy. Amazon gave me a $5.00 credit.

From now on I will order when the 40 pound bag is half gone.

My husband loads trucks for UPS, and he's "used to" the "odd addresses" which don't appear in the system. The "system" will say "load in Truck A" because of the address, but my husband knows (based on years of experience) that, in fact, the address belongs to Truck B, and he will load in Truck B. But, UPS moves loaders around like chessmen during the holiday season, and so he's not always there to catch the mistake. And, the driver won't know till he sees that package at the end of the day. It's not always the driver's fault. A good loader is worth their weight in gold to a driver because the good loader can spot the mistakes the "system" (a dumb computer) makes.

If I lived in the middle of nowhere, or in a house hidden toward the back of a neighborhood, I would say maybe it was a computer issue. However, I live in the biggest city in this state and you can see my house from the major street that the trucks have to travel on to get from the carrier facility. My address is not odd and it definitely appears in the system. Amazon even checked to see if the package label maybe got smudged or folded wrong but there was nothing wrong with it. UPS made sure it was deliver first thing the next day but I am still not a big fan.

I've ordered numerous items this week for random places i.e. World Market, iGourmet, Rue LaLa, Amazon, Apple, and the NBA Store. All arrived, even other Amazon packages, except the two, that didn't ship today...and were sent USPS. The others were shipped FedEx or UPS. Although, this doesn't excuse the delay in fulfillment. I mean, the new delivery date is next Wednesday...eight days, not even two working days from today.

I bought 3 items on Amazon on the 18'th. I received 2 of them on Monday, the third showed that it was coming from CA (I'm in MD) and wouldn't be delivered till Tues the 29'th. I just had a knock on my door and it was UPS with that pkg, so my shopping, and shipping is completed! Sorry yours is delayed. (side note- I don't have Amazon Prime, but mine was over $35-way over) and it was shipped free!)

I feel for you OP. I luckily got my packages delivered in time but it was close. All were due here by yesterday but the USPS decided not to leave 1 package on the porch so I had to go to the post office this morning to pick it up. The other 2 packages were due yesterday but were delivered this morning at 9:00.

I swear next year I'll order earlier!

I haven't had this type of issue with Amazon in over 2 years. The only time I had a shipping issue with them was when they used OnTrac to make deliveries and they had my package for a week less than 10 miles from the delivery address. Amazon doesn't use them anymore in LA since they now handle the majority of the deliveries in this area themselves with their own drivers if it's coming from the local distribution warehouse and because of that I sometimes wind up with my items the next day even when they didn't qualify to be delivered that quickly.

Prime did that to me this week too. Even got a notice that a few things have shipped out but still won't be delivered until next week. I checked the listings for delivery details and even noted that it said it would be delivered by today but when the shipping notice went out it said next week. Not happy at all. Not much I can do either. Except maybe not renew my prime. Which I am fully considering, since they raised the price but have not raised their dependency.

I have had no issues this year so it must be hit or miss. In fact, I ordered something 3 days ago and had it the next day. I was shocked.

We sent a present through the USPS Priority Mail box and it was expected to be delivered in 2 days with tracking to another state. It has now been 4 business days with no tracking of the package. The last time they tracked the package was at the central headquarters where it took off. A little frustrating, but oh well. We sent a bunch of Christmas cards to other states the same day and most have already been delivered. Go figure!

Two stories from this year...

Two different orders from Amazon. One from last week, but the product page said "not able to ship until 12/20". I ordered anyway, knowing it might not get here. I have everything delivered to the office, and even though the office is closed (but we're a 24/7 operation), it gets delivered (FedEx). Another item I ordered on Sunday with Prime, it tries to be delivered today but isn't because of the office is closed (UPS).

Story two... I order a soccer jersey last Wednesday morning w/customization. On the website, it says customization takes 3-4 days, but it will ship the same day it's ready. On Monday, I call to check (I couldn't find the email with order confirmation and started to panic) and was told they had the order, but customization will take 5 days because of the holidays. It ended up being delivered yesterday.
