Amazon pricing things incorrectly

Does anyone know if Amazon cancels orders you purchase and the price was incorrect?

I bought something yesterday for a great deal. I noticed that about an hour after I ordered, the price went up significantly. I am wondering if the price was wrongly posted????

I am waiting for any word from them to see what happens but thought I would come on here and ask. Will they honor the lower price or cancel the order?

Now, I do not KNOW that it was incorrectly priced, that is an assumption because it was such a great deal and then quickly went up.

I once ordered an incredibly cheap TV through Amazon. They canceled the order, sent an email saying there was an error, and that was it. This was years ago, though.

I got the Hunger Games trilogy the other day when it was $4.50 (apparently an error) and they didn't cancel anything or charge me any more. That was for Kindle though, so I obviously I had the product instantly.

Also, they do have deals that are only available for a few hours, so it's possible you caught one of those.

Thanks. I will post when I either get the order cancelled or get it shipped!

If it was a true pricing error, Amazon will cancel the order. However Amazon's prices fluctuate, they can change within hours so its is possible that your purchase was not a price error.

They will cancel the order if they truly find an error. I ordered DS's allergy-friendly chocolate chips once--12/ 10 ounces packages for $12. They are usually $6 a piece so this was a GREAT DEAL! It got canceled within an hour or so because of the price being wrong, once all the food allergy mom's started buying tons of them, I'm sure. :rotfl:

Sometimes they do lower their prices by half and I have had legit deals like that. Hopefully this is the case for you.

Often you will see a very good price on an item on Amazon and go back later and it is much higher. Sometimes is has to do with the fact the the lower price was from Amazon itself. Once that sells out, they will list the item at a higher price if it is available from another amazon seller and not directly from amazon.

They had a few price errors on toys last week and I'd ordered 2 things in multiples of 3. I got an email saying it was a price mistake, and they would send me 1 of each item but that the others had been canceled. Yesterday, I received all of the items. :confused3

Item still hasn't shipped but it has changed to "shipping soon" status.

I certainly hope that if they wished to cancel the order they would have done so by now rather than making me wait this long to have to order a different one.

That is a good sign! We've never had anything get that far that was a price error!

It seems to me like it happens with third party vendors more than with Amazon itself - Marketplace sellers are more likely to make mistakes and cancel, but when it's actually Amazon it's more likely a price change and they honor it.

That is what I am hoping as well, although I have never had anything take this long to ship either! I ordered it on the 4th at night and today is the 10th.

I assume they can't ship today anyway as it is a holiday so hopefully I will know by tomorrow what the final word is.

ETA: I just went back to check and it no longer shows that I can cancel the order, so that is another good sign I am hoping!

Ok, well, not looking good. Got an email from Amazon that seller has not shipped or communicated, so it must be Amazon who is putting in "shipping soon" on their updates without really knowing.

I have contacted the seller, but he does have some 1 out of 5 ratings (although overall rating is 96%) for non-shipment and non-communication.

GRRR!!!! I would not be overly upset if it were cancelled but since I ordered on the 4th and the seller didn't even BOTHER to communicate in over a week, I would indeed be very irritated if it never comes and there is no communication.
