Amazon Marketplace. Potential buyer question.

I have a used camera lens for sale on Amazon's marketplace and someone emailed me with interest in purchasing it. For $3 less than I listed it which isn't a problem but it's odd that they asked for a $3 discount. Anyways, they want to buy it using their US address but ship it to Africa (for $109 UPSP airmail). Something doesn't sound right with this deal and tells me to run away from it.

This is not a rare lens and I can't believe the buyer can't get it cheaper in Africa.

Personally I refuse to sell to international bidders/buyers just because of the stories I have read about how little can be done if they decide to screw you.

Makes sense to me but how does payment work? Is Amazon the middle man for the transaction? IOW, they pay Amazon and Amazon pays me?

That was my initial reaction when I saw "Africa".

My gut is screaming scam as well.

They [con artists] were doing this last year with cars.

Well...I live in Africa and it is hard to get lots of things here.
If you feel like it is a scam I'd say no, though. I don't know how you'd get the extra $$ from them for shipping.

I think some of that depends on you, but even if Amazon is the middle man, it works both ways. You don't want them contacting Amazon as saying you sent a broken lens or never sent it at all.

Yes, that's how it works, but I wouldn't trust it anyway. I'd just tell him no.
