My ds11 broke his $39 RCA tablet he received last Christmas. I have read the reviews of the Amazon tablet, which is only $49.99, which all appear favorable. Does anyone have any reviews? He basically uses it to play games and while is RCA (Black Friday Special, 2014) worked fine he did a good job, until last week, with it and I am looking to slightly upgrade

Thanks!

I don't know if this is any help.

I don't have the Fire Tablet, but I have had a Kindle Fire HDX for almost two years. Love it. Got the Otterbox because I'm a klutz. The Otterbox has saved my bacon more times than I can count.

my sister bought one for her 5 year old, added the extra memory. I helped set it up and get the appropriate apps. I have the Kindle Fire HD 7 and think this one is a pretty good low cost device. My niece plays games on it, watches Disney Channel, Nick, PBS Kids and Netflix. She is too young to notice that it's not HD but not sure that is really needed for a child. Sis also borrows library books for the device. It has a front facing camera and cloud storage. I would recommend it for sure. Does not have the really "cool" apps from iTunes or Goggle Playstore.

If you buy one for your DS be sure to set up the Parental Controls so he can't buy stuff. Also will allow you to see what apps he is installing as you will need to put in the password even for free apps.

Check out the Fire Kids Edition...

$99 and you get a free, one year subscription to FreeTime Unlimited. The best part is the two year "worry-free guarantee"...if it gets broken, Amazon will replace it for free, no questions asked. Where was this when my kids were younger?

I just purchased the $50 Fire 7... this is half the cost it was on black Friday last year. Right now I have it hidden when one of my kids' breaks. They are both using a Fire 6 and 7 and one has a big crack in it... its just a matter of time.
^^noted the $99 deal, which sounds great if they break... same cost as having to buy a 2nd one to replace...lol. At least you get the Freetim unlimited... which is ... what?

We love our Kindle Fires so much we bought them for SIL and 2 DGDs, they are so much better to travel with on vacation because you can download your movies before you leave home, use the Kindle Fire HDMI cord to plug into the resort/hotel room tv and you don't experience buffering you can have when streaming.

If you are klutzy or have kids I would definitely purchase the otterbox case.

I have a 4 year old that now comes to work with me in the afternoons. We gave her my old Kindle Fire and subscribed to Amazon Free Time. It's awesome. I don't have to worry with her downloading or playing things she shouldn't. There are all sorts of settings you can use to set time limits, etc. For Christmas I'm going to get the new kid's Amazon tablet for my son. It's $99 and comes with the Free Time and case!

How do you do that?! I'd love to put movies on the kindle for my kids to watch during the drive to Disney.

Here is the Amazon Support Link with detailed instructions...it sounds harder than it really is.

I bought two just recently. Been doing nothing but downloading and playing games. Having the "unlimited" via Amazon underground games makes some of them more fun to play since you have the ability to buy all the items in game and it is free. It was part of the purchase and helped with the decision to buy. I already filled the 8 GB memory with games, and had to buy another microSD card to expand it. Only thing I added was a screen protector. It's survived a couple of drops from two feet or less, but those were accidental. If I keep dropping it, I'd rather have a case to protect it. :) For the price, it works great.
