O. K., This all happened quite by accident. I was sorting through my sons clothes, he will be 3 in December. So anyway most of these things were/are expensive name brand clothes (courtsey of my shopaholic mother ) and were barely worn. The last batch I just gave to my Sister in law thinking that she was going to pass them along to friends but instead she just left them sit and ended up taking them to goodwill. Not that that is a bad thing, I'm now just seeing lost inventory flying out the window *hee* So instead of being miserable in the heat, early am's, etc. having a yard sale, I decided to bite the bullet and post some things on Ebay. Well, you won't believe what other people will buy. I've sold several outfits, almost brand new movies, books, and believe it or not a Nascar mug! A freakin' Nascar coffee mug! ::yes:: So now I have a Paypal account that I will convert to Disney Dollars before our trip. It's seems easier not to touch it (except for postage). So try it, you just may be surprized. It's only my first two weeks and things are looking good. Just follow all the guidelines, it really it pretty simple to do.

edited to include "having a yard sale". dooohhhh

Way to go! I have been thinking about doing the same...even bought a book "E-Bay for Dummies", I think I will try and get started this weekend. (If I don't chicken out again)

LOL!

Everytime I say I'm going to try it....I chicken out too.

It's not that hard really, you just have to be organized about it. And make sure you charge enough postage. I put it off forever and now I wish I hadn't. Go for It!

I don't even touch my Pay Pal for postage! I take it from my primary checking and then there is more in my secondary (Pay Pal) checking account.

Weird, but a neat way to tuck away more money for WDW!

Ebay is awesome!!
I discovered it years ago (well, actually my husband did, when looking for an anniversary gift for me...I collect comedy/tragedy masks). Eventually I started selling, too, and discovered that it's a great way to squirrel away some $$. We take a lot of Disney cruises, and it's amazing what some of the Artist Choice pins sell for. If you're thinking of trying it, don't chicken out! The only thing you have to lose is the listing fee, which really isn't all that much.

Just one word of warning...depending on what you're selling, you might want to make insurance mandatory. I do for things like Disney pins and other items with a high dollar cost, as the person has to sign for it. I only had one person claim to not receive the item, and fortunately I had the signature to prove they did.

Great advice! We are looking into selling more things. That tidbit will come in handy!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Thanks to this board, I opened an ING savings account and that's where all my eBay money ends up.

After I get paid, I leave the money in Paypal for a little while until it builds up a little bit. Then I transfer it to my checking account. When it shows up there I just transfer it over to ING.

That way, it's out of my checking account where I might spend it.
(And out of my Paypal account, where I might SPEND IT, too!!).

Also, right now it's sitting there earning 2.1% until our trip this winter. Since it takes a few days to withdraw the money, you are less likely to use it for impusle buys.

Right now Paypal's just paying something like 1.09 %, or something. ING is paying DOUBLE that ~ and FDIC insured.

What IS an impusle buy, you ask???

Well, it's kind of like an IMPULSE buy.....

Sorry about that!

I have tried Ebay too, I just need to figure out what to sell! Some things have sold and some have bombed! I am afraid I do not have the knack. I will keep trying and see what happens!

I jumped in about 7months ago and have socked away over 1000.00 for my January trip. There will be 6 of us, so that will help toward meals

Just paid off my WL reservation for Sept with ebay money...been selling my kid's outgrown clothes and stuff from my attic since reading this board in Feb. I never dreamed we'd be able to afford to stay at a Deluxe and then ebay, a discount code and WaaLa! Many many thanks to everyone here!!!!!
