Amazing Race, Family Edition. *Official DiscussionThread*

That was really a mean statement. Glad you remember you are on Dis Family threads.
I have seen statements much worse than this on these boards!

:earseek: It never ceases to amaze me how people can condescend a family for being rude and ignorant by being rude and ignorant about them. Interesting hypocrisy :confused3

But this is a discussion board...I wouldn't go on national television blabbing hwo wonderful I am one minute and then living contrary to that the next. And noone on her has claimed perfection either. We are discussing a tv show and some of the comments are what you call sarcasm in return to the family.

Sarcasm--while yes is rude---is just to point out the irony in their statements.

Your statement could easily apply to the Weavers (which I thought it did)--until I read some responses, so I'm not sure if you were directing it to them or to the posters on this thread...but I do see how easily I could be confused. :teeth:

I am glad it was a non-elimination round tonight.
I am pulling for the underdogs, like I usually do.

A single mom who admits she never travels, with 3 teenagers over a family of
- young athletic, very strong men and a strong woman.
-4 women who have travelled extensively together and have experience
-a wise man and 3 grown daughters who also travel alot.

The Weavers are the underdogs here for sure, and I would like to see them take it.

YOu know--I respected them when they realized they were last--and all hope was lost--they became respectable...very much so. But that all changes when they catch up to the team.

They are actually a VERY strong team--so I don't see them as underdogs at all--when you look at the first show...not by a long shot are they underdogs.

Underdogs are someone with little chance of winning--the Weavers are a very smart team and do not (usually) give up so easily. They bust their buns all the time.

How about that--a very POSITIVE view of the Weavers.

Yet, I do not identify them as underdogs and neither would most others I imagine. Unless--you don't see these strengths that I do.

The funny part is that they did not prepare for this to be an non elimination round and they are not dressed for cold weather. I guess we will see what happens next.

They did throw on some things.

Rolly was "wearing" their map/atlas which was VERY VERY clever.

Where do you think that they are going to find cold weather? Did they not film in the summer?

In all fairness--there are climates they could have gone to and could still go where it is cold in the summer (especially for a family from Florida)--and any destination south of the equator---it is winter.

There is a difference between sarcasm and calling someone you don't even know 'white trash.' I know no one is claiming their own perfection, but I just don't understand why we can't voice our opinions of the teams and their behavior without going for the jugular. I'm sorry that I'm in the minority here, but I just think some of the comments are a little out of hand.

while I tend to agree--my post still stands. Your comment to the posters hear can just as equally apply to the Weaver family. I just found that very interesting.

I don't know specifically what posts the person you specifically replied to had posted---but if someone does believe the family in question to be exhibiting enough behaviors to appear as white trash--then they would have the same equal opportunity to post that hear. Name calling in and of itself is an opinion...so no need to add the qualifier "in my opinion" b/c the understanding is that they aren't stating a fact.

ETA: for clarification--my :teeth: and comment about being confused--the :teeth: was me being silly and not sarcasm and the comment....well it was true, I couldn't tell for certain to whom your statement was directed.

I knew, no worries :teeth:

I wonder, with the Weavers, how much is editing and how much is them just being not so nice.

I just watched the last ep (tivo) and I thought, man, everyone's just going to HATE them-like, what would you do if you saw the Weavers in Target?

It's probably a burden they didn't anticipate having to bear...

Nobody has posted anything that is any worse than what the Waevers have been saying on the show.

As for "the" comment, I have to agree. They've been dressed and acting like street walkers the whole race, no change really needed.

Hey everyone! I went to Ft. Worth Tx to visit my cousins and we went to the Stockyards where AR5 went right before the finish line. Remember there was a maze that they had to go through to get one of the final clues. It was Chip & Kim, Colin & Christie and Brandon & Nicole. So, we went through the maze--it was fun! It took me 21 minutes to do it though because I got so lost at one point. I think that was a really bad time. :rotfl: But, it was still fun! Here's a pic--not the greatest of me though.

Oh when will this season be OVER! I don't like any of the teams left. I hate how the sisters pick on the one sister. The Linzes annoy me. The Bransens bore me. And the Weavers...I liked them at the beginning but the whole "everyone hates us, pity us" is so old and I'm sick of the constant negative comments and whining.

Beth--I thought that maze looked like a lot of fun (if I weren't under the stress of $1 million riding on my completion time!)

LOL!! I even said to my cousin "Can you imagine doing this to win a million dollars?" There's no way I would have been able to do it.

Totally agree. And why did they go to ugly stupid stuff in the south (trailer park, c'mon!), then cool beautiful things like the grand canyon in the west? We've got gorgeous stuff here too, if the location scouts weren't so lazy, they'd find it. I"m SO, SO over this edition. Bring back Romber!!! Third world countries, unfriendly natives, Argentina (I have to go there now), bring it on!

Hey! Charleston isn't ugly or stupid ;) Granted they didn't even show much of it!

I guess I don't get this...if it's soo bad why watch in the first place, surely there is something else on TV at that time...

Because I'm committed to the series. Because when I started watching I had no idea it would be a running diss of the south. Because I have TiVo and can fast forward past the stupid parts to Phil and Road Blocks, which I enjoy. What my post stated was that I was looking forward to the return of a more traditional AR, and the ratings for this particular edition back me up.

The race track? The NASA facility? Pretty cool if you ask me.

There were some pretty trailer park like places on the West portion so far.
