:cheer2: party of 6 trying to plan an 'amazing race' type game at epcot any suggestions?

That sounds like so much fun! UMMM it's been a few years since I have been to Epcot, lets see if I can think of anything...You could fo FIND IT (find something that is pretty rare or well hidden) or TRY it (try some crazy food that you would NEVER try). What else could you do...maybe give them an instant camera, and have them try on a hat from each county, give points to the most orginaly (example, they do not get a point if someone else has taken a pix in the same hat). Good luck

OK, give me some time to think, but this sounds like it could be a blast - to plan and to play!

Have you got any thoughts yet? How detailed do you want to get? I'm assuming you'll need Road Blocks, Detours, and a way to get clues... Clue boxes are not really a possibility, so maybe a list - scavenger-hunt style? Or a bunch of numbered envelopes to open in order?

Fast Forwards? Transportation issues (I'm thinking Friendship Boats) (need a place for the teams to catch up?)

Let me know if I'm headed in the right direction...

We had Gifts of a Lifetime do it for our three children last November. First they were approached by a woman(employee of Gifts of a Lifetime) and asked us if it was alright for our children to participate in a contest. They were to be timed. First they were given a disposable camera and had to have their picture taken in front of 3 future world rides then have an employee of that ride sign an autograph book that they were also given. When that is compleated they had to go to the doll section of Mouse Gears. There they were given a challange of going to Mexico and having someone take their picture with 3 moroccas(sp). After that their clue was to ride Maelstrom then look under a bench in China. In the questionare beforehand they found out what characters each of the children like. There was a stuffed piglet with a clue around his neck. The clue was to look in Italy. In Italy they found a light up Buzz toy with a clue to go to the tables in Japan. There they had a food chalange. They were given questions and if they got them wrong, my husband and I had to eat the candy paper that they wrote the answer on (the things parents do so their children will have fun). They then had to eat beef jerky to get the next clue. This clue led them to France where employees of Gifts of a lifetime did a drawing challange with them. That clue led them to Canada where it ended and they were presented with prized we had purchase.
This is for small children. I don't know if your are planning on doing it yourself. If you are interested the people at Gifts of a lifetime were wonderful and will cater it for whatever age you want. The fun thing if they plan it you can participate, too. www.giftsofalifetime.com
If you end of planning it, could you post how it goes, it would be fun to try.

We just bought Pass Porters Treasure Hunts at WDW and are SO excited to be trying it out in a few more days! My 13 yo has been reading it faithfully hoping she'll figure out a few clues before we go. I ended up taking it away!

WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!
I guess you could say that you have to each ride, send an email from the video email maker in Mexico, get your name written in rice paper (China?Japan?), get a photo of your team with one of the fab five characters, - get a digital photo of your team in each country - meaning you would have to talk a stranger into taking your photo, I can't think of anymore. I can't wait to hear the other ideas!

Our DD11 is at the World right now. The group she is with organized an amazing race around the world showcase. They spent the entire day running from one end of the park to the other doing various activities. Haven't been able to hear everything, but I know they visited every country, purchased items, searched for specific pressed pennies, drank some unusual drinks, etc. It sounded fun and exhausting. But, hey, they're young and loving it! :cool1:

I like the digital camera idea. That way you have evidence of the activities and great memories. You could have them take a picture of the entire group wearing a kimono in Japan. A detour could be to take the boat to the other side of world showcase - this could be quick or slow depending on the timing of arrival as boats depart every 20 minutes. Maybe getting Belle and Beast's autograph in France - again could be quick or take a lot of time.

Although Clue Boxes are not possible, I would think that you could get some CM's involved maybe at a register, or a restaurant podium? This sounds like it would be a lot of fun, except I would caution your teams about running through the parks, that could possibly cause a stir or even be mistaken for an emergency situation.

Yes include me! ;)

Seriously, sounds like a super time. Look forward to hearing everyones ideas! :)

Award them points for the number of hidden mickeys they spot in Soarin or they have to ride it until they find all three, I think that is correct.

What a great idea...you going in September, count me in ;)

and I haven't seen amazing race <gasp> (ok I work a lot!), but here ya go.

Every team has a camera and they have a list of pictures they must get. One item must be in each picture.... something hard to carry but possible there, it could even be from a first purchse. Each person on the team must be in each picture.

When we do it as a scavanger type hunt, the clues are kinda opened ended, like get your picture with moving water. We have had water fountians, a boat moving in the water behind the team, pouring water from a cup, ect. It is kinda cool to see how each team takes the clue. These are also all on one sheet, so you don't have to involve anyone to hand out the next clue.

Have fun and let us know how you did it and post any pictures!
