Has anyone gone there. Is it worth it. DS wants to hold a monkey.

we were there last year a couple of times....not to "tour" but to take my niece there for the "course" they offer ( she took the course in june/july and went back to visit in november ) both times we transported her out there

it is approximately 1 hour or so north of orlando ( up from mt dora/eustis ) but if you take the toll roads it is better ( faster )

since we did not pay to "tour" it was enjoyable to us.....but do not know what they charge to tour the facility, although i do think there is some contact allowed ( we did not hold any animals but of course our niece had hands on for two months )

this is a tough call, but they seem to have a fair number of "tour" groups go through the facilities at different price structures

if we talk to our niece, we will ask her about "interactive tours" and if she has any suggestions.....what is the age of your DS ( that might help her make a "informed" decision )

We were there last Wednesday for a tour and were the only people there more or less. There was another lady who was on the tour with us but did not have any interaction with the animals. It seemed like she was mom to a student or friend of the facility.

If you decide to go, make sure to call and set up the day you will go as it is more or less by appointment only.

We ended up doing the Safari tour and we each got to hold a baby monkey, two at the same time, following the tour of the facility. After that we got to interact with a small monkey and a ring tailed lemur. Then we went back outside and were able to pet a black leopard named Magic.

I also added the tiger encounter for my girlfriend since she loves big cats. While initially it was to happen after the tour we did it first thing. She was able to get close and pet him for 10-20 minutes while I took pictures.

They don't get as many people through there anymore as they are a non-profit organization and have been unable to advertise as much. We were the only people there for the day but they did say at one time they use to get an average of 20 people a day.

Most of the animals are rescued from pet owners or other facilities/zoos that have closed. It was sort of sad to see some of the smaller cages. They were all clean and well maintained but with being a non-profit they can only afford so much. We left with a better impression/feeling of what they do once we toured the facility and learned about each of the animals on a one by one basis.

They offer three tours, as well as the tiger encounter. If your DS wants to hold a monkey either the middle priced or top priced tour will give him that experience.

I've never heard of this. Where can I get information and how much is a mid to high price tour?
