Amanda & Jay Wishes 10 yr VR 2/18/16 -- Update 5/17 Disney Wedding Podcast!!

I think the segways will be so cute!! :thumbsup2

Our concern is will Disney make everyone wear a helmet? If so that will not be good for anyone's hair!

So here is the first contender for a dress!! So please tell me what you all think!

Obviously I will need to start trying dresses on when it gets closer, but never hurts to look and have an idea right??:rolleyes1

Jay, you are toooooo sweet! I love your segway idea! You'd be like 6 footmen following along! :lmao:

Amanda, your dress choice is off the charts awesome! I love how you decided to go with something different than your wedding and it matches the "beach" idea perfectly in that it is so flowing and romantic! Love the asymmetric neck line! BEAUTIFUL!

I totally agree that would so make for some great pics!!

Thanks! I love it too, will see what it actually looks like ON ME, but I wanted something different than the last one, and that dress definitely is! I loved the neckline, most dresses are strapless or if they're not, they have really ugly things on the top -- but that one jumped out at me. I love the Alfred Angelo Tiana's top half, but not so keen on the bottom of the dress -- which is why I am seriously considering having something made for me then I can piece together the things I like into one dress!

Thank-you too for following along, it's a long term commitment in here though so brace yourself :rotfl:

I love the dress. . . I think if you keep looking, you will find more grecian style dresses, so if this one isn't 100% you, there will be one that is.

It's funny, when I was looking at the blue/green style board that you posted, I was thinking that I love the blue and green, but I wasn't sure about the particular shade of green. . . and then I got to the end and saw that you had the same reservation. It looks fine, but I bet you will find a green that works better for you.

And I have to put in two thumbs up :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 for Jay's idea about the Segways. It's unique, it's a great photo opp, and it finally gives a groom a chance to make an entrance. I'm not sure what you are going to do to top that -- bride gets to make a fabulous entrance, too! In any case, it looks like this is going to be a fun ride, even as a bystander.

I am officially braced, momma joke-ster! Bring it on!! :jester:

I'm totally sure that the next few years will be a total rollercoaster, but glad that you've signed up to the ride ;)

I am really picky with dresses unfortunately! TBH I wouldn't have chosen the dress I wore for the VR, I'd have thought it was too beady (is that a term?) but it turned out to be perfect! So, basically I will put ideas up, but may end up with something totally different when I go to strart trying them on!

I have seen some shades in Alfred Angelo Bridesmaids dresses -- we're liking the Shamrock Green with navy. It's brighter, but I think they compliment each other!

I'm thinking getting beamed down by ET's spaceship :rotfl: I'm not sure but knowing Jay, we'll come up with something spectacular (or he will anyway!).

Love the dress idea Amanda :) thats a maggie isn't it?

I'm sticking with you for the whole 4 years girl!!

Segways would be so awesome, but i'd say there would have to be some kind of safety equipment involved - and you definately need Cinderella's carriage!

Yes it is a Maggie! I just really want something different, but not weird if you get what I mean!

I'm so not down with helmets -- although if they were color coordinated that may look pretty cool as well......we shall see!

Hi Amanda, I came over to your PJ from mine and I'm officially following now. My colors are green and blue too but they will be the lighter shades that you had on the cake in the picture. I was totally wondering how these colors will work, but I'm sticking with them because I love them. I haven't had a chance to review your husband's TR, but I plan to for sure.

Also, I love that dress, it's stunning! :goodvibes

I'm so glad that you two are going to have another VR!! I think having the reception at Ariel's is a great idea, too! ;) That's where we're having our reception in May! I :lovestruc that dress, too! Very pretty! :cutie:

Hi!

It's never too early, lol!! I don't know how you're containing yourself! I know I couldn't!

Hi and welcome! The colors really worked well together, and we found a TON of 'props' in the colors for the photos. We got them in China at Epcot, and they really added to them.

I'm glad too ;) Sweet on Ariel's -- I will be looking for pictures of it all done up *hint hint!* You're so close, you must be excited!!

Hi!

I am containing myself -- just! What I keep telling myself is it gives us time to have EXACTLY what we want and be able to pay for it! Also, having just had our Memories VR, it would be greedy to have one sooner than that ;)

So I was thinking that many of you may not have read Jay's PJ of his surprise, and even if you have, here is my take on what's brought us here!

Way back in 1998 we met online -- and shockingly not through a dating site (although they really didn't exist back then did they?). We became friends, and to be honest I just found the whole idea of chatting to someone halfway around the world pretty cool:laughing:

We spent the next year and a half 'getting to know each other' via the internet, and then in late 1999/early 2000 had a bit of a falling out. The less said about that the better so we'll just leave it at that!

Jay then came over to MI where I was living at the time and under lots of pressure from me, we met up in person for the first time. That was in June of 2001, and on August 3, 2001 we officially became a couple! This is what we looked like then:

I call that our 'trash can picture' because that's what is behind us!! We were at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, and we look about 12 :rotfl:

We spent the next 4 years going back and forth between the US and the UK with Jay mainly spending time with me in the states. It was the summer of 2005 Jay was coming over to spend time with me and he was denied entry and sent back to England. :scared1: Needless to say, this was devastating, so I made plans to go over instead. In the discussions we decided that we needed to get married and figure out where to live so we didn't have to go through that again!

We decided to live in the UK as that was the best option for us at the time, and got officially engaged! Here is a pic from our engagement party:

After I moved here we went to have a quick courthouse/registry office wedding for visa purposes, with the plan to have a formal wedding at an English Manor House in August of 2006. Here we are looking lovely on our original wedding day!

Well, things didn't go to plan for us as usual and we ended up adopting our daughters, which put the wedding on the back burner.......permanently!!

This was until Jay decided to plan our memories vow renewal during our Feb trip to WDW! It was supposed to be a surprise, but that didn't happen -- but it was the most amazing day of my life and I FINALLY got to be a princess!!

(not from the wedding but a fantastic day nonetheless!!)

Amanda, that is such a great story. I've read a little of Jay's report, but not all of it so this was helpful. My DF is from Scotland, but thankfully he lives in the states now. We occasionally talk about what would happen if he had to go back because I have two kids and can't move to the UK so he would probably be doing the same as Jay did by travelling back every 90 days. That had to be tough nonetheless! It is so very sweet what you did by taking in the children, they will be so much better as adults because of your kindness and open-ness to love and take them in. When I saw the picture of the little one crying at your vow renewal it tugged on my heart strings, I teared up too! How sweet! Just thought I would chime in and let you know I'm a fan! :goodvibes

PS: we had sausage rolls and Shepard's Pie for lunch today at our local English Tea Room, thought you could appreciate that! Soooo good!! You're lucky you have that all the time living in the UK! :worship:

Hey, I missed these pics somehow! LOVE 'em! Especially the "trash" pics. It reminds me of our engagement pics where the photographer thought it was better to showcase the dumpsters rather than us! Least y'all are lookin' good! :)
LOVE the dolphin pic!

Aww thanks :cutie: We aren't anything spectacular but we try! It wasn't easy going back and forth, but we always knew it wouldn't last forever so we could deal with it.

TBH I'd much rather have Olive Garden, Hamburger Helper and Rice a Roni every day rather than sausage rolls and shepherd's pie! Probably because I can't get it here, that will probably change when we move back to the US!

The dolphin swim was AMAZING!! I loved Discovery Cove so much, we are going to do it again! I even got over my fear of rays which was good!!

So for all of you that have decided to follow along for the next 40 some odd months......I thought I would share the card my lovely husband got me for our wedding anniversary last week.
