Am I the only who thinks Disney / DVC is screwing us on Annual Passes?

We were not able to take advantage of the 399 PAP and as of now we are only 50-50 on our trip happening this summer, so we might not be able to take advantage of this deal (or we might just skip it to stay safe). Either way, although disappointed, we in no way feel like Disney is screwing us. We are the ones unable to take advantage of the offer.

That being said, did anyone get the 399 PAP and wasn't able to activate it in time? Did Disney allow you to keep the ticket or at least credit it to a new ticket? We might be going this summer with our 6 month old. We know how rough summer can be so we were thinking of doing a no parks trip but with the AP deal we might change our minds and just go for a few meals. That is, if the trip happens...

I understand that under the $399 if your missed the activation date you got $399 credit towards the purchase of a new AP at the current rate.

I have not read the posts so I don't know if it's been mentioned but we DL AP holders get really screwed over. They are giving a whopping $70 discount on the Deluxe pass. That's not even the premium one. Deluxe has black out dates! It's a shame.

I don't understand the "screwed over" concept when you're not losing anything. Don't you get CA resident discounts?

The discounted So Cal APs are majorly blacked out. I can only go during the week in the off season with it. No summer or holiday months. No weekends.

I was responding to the OP's sentiment. I do feel it's unbalanced that a non blocked out AP at WDW is heavily discounted but there is no such option for DL. That's what I was referring to as screwed over. They discounts should be equal IMO.

And that majorly blacked out southern CA select discounted AP was $279 per person this year. The one that's similar but let's you go on Sundays during the off season only, with only weekday options again only in the off season, no summer is $359 per person. The only difference between the two is that the pricier one adds a few Sundays. These are the only 2 southern CA APs. There is no So Cal discount on the better APs. The premium AP with no black out dates is $669 per person. And there are 2 parks vs 4. The APs are more expensive here than in FL in general.

I missed out last time as well as this time... It happens... It's a special discount...

Team Disney Anaheim does not want to highly discount their APs as much as Team Disney Orlando. The DL Deluxe AP is an excellent value and the discounts are great... Blockout dates are only out there for weekends and holidays and those are times that visitors wouldn't really want to be there then as lots of locals are there. Weekdays at the DLR theme parks are really nice and laid back and great.

It really wasn't prior to Carsland. The year that opened the AP's all took a huge jump. Mostly I believe that DL was hoping to generate similar AP revenue yet reduce the count of passes sold since they really were so heavy with local AP holders. Although considering the very good price they had on them that shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone.

As I mentioned from my earlier post - Still DOES NOT cover PARKING SO .... there went my $70 discount on the DL Deluxe AP! Probably not needed for out of towners BUT definitely for LOCALS! Sometimes everyone in my family likes to go to DL on their own time SO.... 3 out of 4 of us NEED parking passes!

we had just bought 7 day hoppers when this came out. can't trade them in since that has to be done in person and we wont be down until May. Can' t get voucher now then turn in hoppers for credit in May. Can't have friend (fellow DVCCer) going down next week trade in our hoppers.

options are just keep hoppers or buy vouchers and save hoppers.

anyone want a 7 day hopper plus water parks? :)

If you can afford to keep the hoppers and buy the vouchers, that's what I would do.

We still have unused 7 day park hoppers that we bought in 2009. Paid big $ to make them non-expiring. DH still has 3 more days on another ticket and I have 5 days left on yet another one.

We took advantage of the $399 deal last year and got 4 trips on them but they expired in Jan. Will most likely take advantage of the new deal too. The plan is to buy before April 30 and activate them in mid-June, that way we will get at least 3 more trips on them, 4 total.

We will be using the partial PH tickets on our next trip later this month. By waiting to activate the PAP in June we will get maximum usage out of them. Not sure why this deal won't work for most unless you just can't get there this year.

In June 2012, we bought three APs before the price went up. Then DVC announced the special deal on PAPs for $399 in Oct. We went ahead and bought the discounted PAPs in Oct and still have the AP vouchers for our next trip.

It really was 2 statements with the first (I don't understand the "screwed over" concept when you're not losing anything) being the main one. You're losing nothing, the fact that if you went to WDW you could potentially get a discount does not hurt you in the least if you don't get one for CA.

Ok. But I was referring to having a similar perk here. I can't use a WDW AP because I may only get there 1-2 times per year. Bottom line is I wish there was a nicely discounted Premium DL AP. There's nothing wrong with wishing for that.

We fall into the "we maximized our DVC usage while we had the $399 deal and now don't have enough points to make another AP worth it until fall 2015". It's a good deal, it just isn't going to work for our schedule this year. We did get 25ish days out of the PAP though. Well worth it!

There's nothing wrong with wishing for it or asking for it, it's anyone being upset about it that's simply wrong. Another's gain is not automatically my loss.
