Am I The Only Person Who Has Fired Their Realtor? And, Should I Report Him?

He's not illegal, just a really, really bad agent. If he's part of a larger agency (most are) I'd outline a list of your problems with him and send it to the head of the agency.

Then, move on and find someone wonderful. Good luck!

Yeah--I don't think he did anything wrong in realtor world that is reportable. But word of mouth is the best "consequence". If anyone is looking for a realtor, suggest the one you end up using and liking and let them know to avoid this one. I'm not saying go out and bad mouth him on purpose. But if someone asks, it is perfectly okay to tell folks that you don't think he is a very good realtor and is to be avoided.

In the end though--times are tough and he's probably worrried. Though he handled it in a pi$$ poor way that likely could cost him clients. Especially when realtors often count on referrals to expand their business.

We had bad luck with a realtor once. Too bad for him that it was through a referral program with USAA. He was similarly not working with us as we weren't sure when we were buying. We were quite dissatisfied that he woudln't pull any showings and seemed to ignore us. We complained to USAA and requested a new referral and they said they would take care of him (Which i take it to mean that he would no longer be part of their referral network.)

As it turns out--this agent pulled 12 homes for us and a week or two later we went to go look at them. We put an offer in on home #12 that day I think. Turns out the honors wanted a delayed closing which worked for us and 6 months or so later we had a house.

Likely that realtor that didn't work with us so no long term harm as our area boomed shortly after that. But it still felt good that USAA was going to drop him.

Karma is often the best form of punishment. If he is spread to thin to properly help his clients despite lack of closings--he will find that he won't be a realtor for much longer unless he gets lucky and there is a housing boom in your area.

When we bought our current home we had one realtor only and she was amazing. She showed us several homes and gave us tons of info and was just really helpful and nice. After about six years now, we still hear from her regularly.

There are great realtors out there. It sounds like you found a loser and I would dump him in a hurry!

House hunting should be a pleasant experience. Dump him and get someone who will make it enjoyable. I've sold many homes and I've even seen the "showing" realtor give gifts to their clients at the closing.
